Comments (21)Hahaha, well my lawn looks like it belongs on some kind of a terrible rental property... the green bits are huge patches of crab grass and the rest is yellow! There's a small farm/nursery on the south side of Hwy 2 just east of Lakeridge Road - do you know it? It used to be called Lilac Farm, I think. For some reason because it's smaller, I can organize my thoughts better and I seem to be more efficient when I go there. That's where most of my money goes, although I do a lot of looking and dreaming at V's, I only buy there what I can't get at this other little place. The bigger the place is, the more I seem to aimlessly wander around, wanting everything and getting nothing. Eliza Ann, send me an email any time, if you like! Comments (11)Well, as promised, here are a few photos: First one is the solid green mother plant: Second is the stolon and its branches: Third is a closeup of the mostly white baby on the stolon: And another: And a closeup of one of the leaves. Its kinda blurry, but I think you can get the idea. Notice how the verigation on the leaves that do have some green, is very odd? Its not even close to your typical white edges w/ green centers, or green edges w/ white centers. Is way more stripped, and the stripes are uneven, and different on each leaf. The mostly white leaves are white , save for a thin green strip on the very edges. I would be happy to give some of these away, once the plant matures and produces more. These are still very young. The stolon has not even bloomed yet, and there is not a single sign of ariel roots forming on the babys. I usually will not remove the babys until they have well formed arial roots. The top photo, was the "big green baby" that was still on the mother plant, and had massive ariel roots. I placed it in water and within a week it started producing the big fat white, hairy roots (soil roots). Ill try to post a few more pics of my other spider plant today. The babay that is on that was is getting very big, and has a good set of ariel roots beginning to grow. however, that baby already has been promised to someone. =o( That plant is mostly gree, with white and yellow verigation on the very edges of its leaves. The baby it has produced is just about identical, maybe alittle more yellow in its verigation....See MorePlease. let's see some of your summered plants here! Pic
Comments (73)Hey everyone. Been a while since I've posted here, but I'm loving seeing everyones plants so much that I thought I'd share some of my favorites with everyone as well. My oldest Thanksgiving cactus. It'll be 4 years in January. It doesn't look like much, but I'm thrilled with it 'cause it lost all its segments during the spring and I think it's coming back quite nicely. Opuntia santa-rita. One of my favs. Will be 2 years in April. Jade ovata 'Gollum'. Turned 2 in September. Haworthia fasciata. Really like this one. 1.5 years old. Philodendron scandens. 3.5 years old. Another Phildendron. Not sure of its exact name. Only 6 months old. Dracaena deremensis 'Yellow Stipe'. My mother can't grow these worth a bean, but mine's doing quite well I think. Will be 3 years in May. Dracaena marginata. Turned 4 in September. Ficus elastica 'Black Prince'. 2.5 years old. Hildewinteria aureispina. Will be 3 years in April. Coleus blumei. Looks quite pathetic right now but that's because I just cut it back hard. It always grows back beautifully. I'm proud of this one because Coleus plants are classified as annuals and this one is turning 3 years next month (Decemeber). Hope I didn't post too much. Thanks for sharing everyone and thanks for looking at mine....See MoreHow about a list of VERY unusual hosta? (pics. please)
Comments (50)I have 'L.S. Downsized' as well as 'Blue Haired Lady' (originally sold to me as 'Old Coot'). I love BHL, but LSD is a mini that you can easily overlook. If I have time I'll post a pic of BHL. The leaves are like the ears of a Lop eared rabbit. They're satiny and a cool shade of blue. I'm still looking for 'Old Coot', to keep my BHL company (poor thing). Yes Janice I can start a thread on secret gardens or grottos...that is if I ever get mine made. Right now its just a pic in my mind. Donna ;o)...See Morebarbmock
