Wow, it's hard to believe this thread was dug out of the depths! I'm sure by now it had to be on page 20 or 30. LOL California dreamer, the piece had plain cabinet doors on it. DH took them off, built an oversized front lined with cork and hinged it from the top and then we just screwed in little hooks from the bottom. Wahlah a multipurpose thingymagig. Our came from Lowes and they don't carry them any more but I bought one for my Mom from Sears, they call it a laundry valet. Thanks for the compliments! Neesie, I love wall words and have them on my pantry door. I had considered using one in the laundry room and I really like the same one you do. Thanks for the suggestion, I may go ahead and do it now... Alicia, my sweet friends came from Stein Mart but we have owned them for 6 or 7 years now. The pinky thing is actually a light terra cotta, I wonder if I sealed it with and enhancer if it would look more orangey? Anyway I have changed a bunch in the room but still haven't gotten around to the valance. Here's the new pictures minus the cover I made for the electrical panel, what do ya'll think? I decluttered a bunch and got some new baskets for underneath and moved a few things around. Any improvement??

LOL I only have a short time right now.I have to go to work tonight. I am posting a picture of my office in the last house we had. I know it will make you LOL some more considering the things in my office. This is one wall of a 10 by 10 room and the door is just to the left of the little dresser. So all of this is on a 9 foot one inch wall. There is a printer in the top of the little dresser. We are all laptops here to save space. Only I am thinking the 6 laptops certainly could add up to a couple of desktops. Sigh. NOW I am hoarding laptops. Back to the office. There is a 4 foot wide by 18 inch deep china cabinet on the right of the desk on other wall. Note the mosaic table. I need to dig up the guest room pictures. They are not on this computer. Our master bedroom is 12 1/2 by 14 and I can get lots of stuff in it. Can you post the sizes of the furniture pieces and lay out of your room as to windows and doors. I could easily get an office and guest room with lots of room to spare in a room that size. One thing you might consider is to make a graph of your room and then your furniture to scale on the same graph paper and start pushing paper around until it fits. It can be a good idea when cramming lots in one room to have heights of things stay consistent around the room. Trying not to go from high to low high to low. That tends to make the eye bounce confusing the brain making the room feel crowded. You can fill in a low spot with a picture. I am a big fan of tall pieces holding lots of stuff in a small foot print. Dang I have to get going here. This is so fun but dinner and work call. Chris Here is a link that might be useful:

Thanks for the kind comments everyone. I am of the belief that every nook and cranny in a house has the potential to embrace some kind of decor. I really have to restrain myself sometimes though as I am hopelessly enticed to cover ever empty space with something...but over the years have done better about giving the walls some breathing room...LOL. No matter where your w/d is, make it a fun little place to do laundry. I do need to add a radio/CD player in there too...music makes the task lighter also. kitchnkat...that closet must have been pretty cute. I spent about 2 serious years looking at new home developments before I bought my current home. I was absolutely gaga over one model home (but it was way over my price range). It was about a 3500 sq ft 2-story and laid out so nicely. It had a fabulous game room upstairs with cherry paneling and a built in floor-to-ceiling library wall with rolling ladder and a huge bar area. I visited that model several times and sat in that game room for long periods on end. But the piste de resistance was the master bedroom closet. It is the most awesome closet I have ever seen. After entering the MBR, you turned right into the master bath. There was a gorgeous clawfoot bathtub, excellent cabinetry throughout, back to back his/her vanities, double shower and plenty of linen storage closets. Then you turned right up a little staircase into the closet. It was the size of a bedroom and looked like a high fashioned dress shop. Creamy white woodwork throughout, there were several built in wooden racks in the middle of the room for clothes for him and her. Dressing tables, comfy sitting slipper chairs, mirrors and beautiful wallpaper, all carpeted, chandelier, attic window...the room was to die-for!!! How fun it must be to select your clothes and get dressed in that room.

Call me crazy, but I love lt lime & a soft aqua together. Just because I always do what I shouldn't (lol)..I'd make a wide horizontal stripe (maybe even using a couple moldings for dimension, instead of just paint)..between the 2 colors (as a chair rail). Then do the stripe/molding in a silver foil technique. You can then add chrome accents in lamp bases, photo frames, etc. Taking a pleasing color opposite on the color wheel-use that color for a grouping of 6 prints (framed in silver/chrome) and for throw pillows/rug, etc.. Crazy, I know.
