I would say no because the furnace is turned off & on by thermostat which also control how long it runs. Which means it runs until satisfied at the location it mount ( where hangs). If you close a supply vent, and room has leak windows or air infiltration problem. This could create ( not say it will) a negative pressure in room- allowing the return to suck threw cold air threw leak windows, walls , ceilings. which if was real bad cold increase heat cost alittle. It is better to have air return and supply open in all rooms not be block by furniture to be balanced in positive and negative air pressure. In my opinion it bad to block off vents, it will not make the furnace run any less. _____ at this point i turn simple question in more_________ Turning up furnace by pro, programmable set t-stat, seal of duct work at every joint, change air 1 month or checking. will save money or replace 16-2o year furnace with high efficiency models. for your home: air seal home from air filtration> Basement & attic are two big area's Right amount of insulation in attic makes big difference. Saves on Furnace and a/c bills leak door seals , can lights if have alot them, windows, skylights If have basement air seal the sill by clauking sill & rim joist. electric outlets foam seals. Prices vary so widely around the country and even within the same community itÂs very hard to give a price. You need framing, drywall, painting, and trim carpentry. You probably should be adding at least once receptacle along that wall too. IÂd guess $65 to $85 per foot of wall including materials and finishes. This assumes no surprises, a normal level of finishes, and no odd or architectural mouldings that need to be matched. The door will probably run $100-$150 to install including trim. Hope this helps! Yes, that's the standard in SoCal too, that the loan officers and RE agents (both for buyer and seller) speak about the particulars of each sale. I'm new to the Oregon market so don't know about it here. Question: on FSBO, how does the seller know that the intended buyer will actually have the financial proceeds to purchase the property? I don't think a loan officer will speak to the seller directly, will he? And I've learned, as a seller, not to trust the pre-approval (not to mention the silly pre-qualified) letter from a lender. Even with the pre-approval, bad things can happen between contract date and close of escrow. Having our RE agent speak directly with the buyer's LO helped clarify the situation.

Lilac, welcome to the group. If that doorway is 70 inches WIDE, that will be too wide for a tension rod to span. However, you might think about getting a SHOWER ROD, WHICH IS ABOUT 6 FEET LONG, and a diameter of more than one inch. You could even put a sexy shower curtain on that rod and also hang the canvas drop cloths on the same rod. Shower hooks are great, or even the set of shower rings. I have used the 9 strand 100 pound stainless steel picture hanging wire to hang curtains. In my case, I bought a 100 foot roll of it, but you can get it in lengths. OR, you might go to a place like RESTORE which is a Habitat for Humanity resale place. They have many many doors that came off closets, like the bifold shutter doors. I've found many nice doors that way. If you cannot screw them to the woodwork, and you want to take any purchased items with you when you go, think about attaching the doors to a bookcase or entertainment center at the side so you can open/close the bifolds. It is possible, depending on the size of the room and the location of that wide doorway in it, that you could position an entertainment center in front of the opening, and leave only enough space to have a 28 inch entry to your bedroom. I'm assuming that closing the passage to the kitchen from the dining room will still give you another entry to your kitchen? Quite an interesting question, and you can definitely make your choice attractive. Also note, I use the regular canvas painter drop cloths, available in all sizes, very washable and quite durable, as slip cover for my furniture, bird cages, curtains, pillow covers, bed throws, and I can paint on them and make them tough and hard for small rugs at the doors. Very washable, very durable, and the cheapest thing you can buy. Sort of the color of oatmeal denim, and as durable as a canvas bag.
