Comments (3)Break this down into two steps to make it easier. Tackle function first. Don't worry about a valance until after you live with the shade for a while. Get dressed and go to the stores and play with their displays. Find one that give you privacy, but also works with your fan. The valance is just fluff and you might decide that with your clean lines that you don't want one. The pleated shades that Daisy mentioned sounds just like what you need. Comments (5)I recently bought a product called Veilish. It’s a window film made with fabric material. It’s semi-transparent, so it can provide indoor privacy without blocking the view outdoors. The best thing is that it is self-adhesive, and it can be installed and removed easily, so you don’t need an installation expert. I think you will definitely be satisfied with this product....See MoreWindow treatment for picture window

Limit the decor, a small room would benefit from trim paint the same color as wall color. a simple top down/bottom blind for privacy and light control Blinds.com offers great options....See MoreWindow treatment help for dining room bay windows
Comments (21)I still stand with Jilly’s first example of cafe curtains that are placed about 3/4 of the way up the window. If they would be on rings you could very easily open them during the day and close them at night. I would want light whenever possible. Hopefully the neighbor cannot see in during the daytime....See MoreAmy Gohl
