Built-ins bad value?

Storybook Home
Do you think built-ins are a poor value for the money? Cabinetry and countertops are quite expensive, quite difficult to take with you when you move and unlikely to fit a new space anyway so basically a permanent feature, and potentially removes a bedroom option from the home if it’s converted into an office, craft room, media room, etc.

Considering all that, do you consider built-ins to be a bad use of money compared to more flexible furniture options, or do they add value to a home as an attractive feature? I’ve seen some impressive craft rooms, media rooms, etc. with built-ins that furniture can’t quite replicate the feeling of.
