Furnishing L Shaped Open Living and Dining Room
Comments (2)A couple of chairs and a table to make a small reading nookor better yet use that space for the DR and put a coat closet and a bench in the space where you now have the table because that space looks to small and is in the way of the entry....See MoreHelp with open-concept living room/dining room furnishings
Comments (23)Great, Sally. Hope we didn't overwhelm you with too much information. Most of us do go for a holistic approach to space since no single element exists in a room by itself; they connect through layout, style, finishes, palettes. Sometimes the "problem child" isn't the actual problem, or the only problem, and getting a bunch of alternative suggestions can be useful. Your room is lovely as is, frankly. If you are getting wood flooring, that will definitely modernize the room without your doing anything else. Feel free to post again with all the details at the outset--i.e. not loving the paint, getting wood floors, etc.--then people won't chime in with too much information. Good luck with your new home. You have beautiful pieces....See MoreHelp with furnishing Living Room / Family Room
Comments (6)I agree with CDR's thoughts on furniture placement. You could use a linear electric fireplace like this with the t.v. mounted above it. I think they're much nicer looking than something with a mantle. It's clean and modern looking. Just be sure the fireplace is longer than the t.v. or it will look out of balance. If you put a sofa table behind the sofa in the bay window, it will keep the sofa pulled away from the baseboard heaters well enough for the heat to circulate. Then you can add a couple of lamps for ambient lighting. Two chairs (swivel are nice for going between conversation and t.v. watching) with a table between them for drinks and an area rug to pull it all together. You'll want to add art where the candle holder is on the wall I think, to add some life and color to the space. Keep the furniture smaller and with feet so it doesn't overwhelm the smaller space....See MoreBench for eat-in kitchen?
Comments (13)The ghost chairs suit the table, but not your other decor. I think if you just use low profile chairs, the view won’t be compromised. The leather bench is not a great choice either. The two windows and the view are outstanding and I’d add an l-shaped banquette; it will make that corner even more special and you won’t need 6 chairs. You have French country, traditional, MCM and now a contemporary table, so I would head towards a look that is not too far in any direction - feels contemporary yet traditional. It’s hard to be more specific, without seeing your kitchen, which should have the biggest influence In your decisions....See Morejessicaolivera49
