This old thread got revisited. @dani_m08 to answer the question about extra probe, I believe I ordered an extra one when I bought the set up. The probe wire is just setting in the junction box I think but honestly I cant remember. When I laid out the underfloor heating and the probe, I just ran another probe near the first probe, and it was then sealed into the floor self leveling compound as per instructions. then the end was just threaded into the wall like the one that would be live, and not connected, but just laying there in the box. Regarding the tile layout. I just decided to run it this way, after getting instructions on the 90Degree way, IIRC. The herringbone that I love is from my childhood and the side walks in my neighborhood that all ran at 45Degree. so that to me is herringbone. I know you posted on @sochi thread about her amazing bathroom and a wall mounted faucet. I would totally do it if I had the right sink for it. In my case I had made my sink out of soapstone and an integrated backsplash. The pictures of this bathroom reveal are no longer available because of the use of photo bucket, when it was Gardenweb. I did not keep my account with photo bucket. I'll add some of the reveal pictures so you can see the sink and floor. Regarding the sink there is no ledge for water to drip from my hands when using the faucet. The water drips right into the sink. In my other bathroom with a deck mounted faucet I am always wiping up drips and it is a nuisance. I much prefer the setup for this sink. Below: Here I am finishing up the sink. the backsplash was epoxied on as a separate piece. The whole soapstone install in the room took next to nothing to buy as they were all small pieces that I epoxied together with a 3 part stone epoxy. Below: this is the counter at the tub, and is in 2 long pieces but I was able to epoxy them together at there edges to make a wide slab for the top. All the soapstone was finished with a 60 grit sandpaper to be rough and this lovely soft tone of blue/green/gray/white. I did not oil it so this color tone would remain light. Below: If I recall correctly @sochi helped me decide on this Hubberton Forge Mirror. I have 3 different metals in this room, but they are all a cool silver to black color. Below: the center of this tower shares space with the kitchen on the other side of the wall. there is also some extra space that houses some electrical wiring. this is an old simple house. this bathroom was an add on when it got move to the farm in the 30s IIRC. The plumbing was all rearrange and some of the details that were orignially there I kept but updated it, such as this tower feature. The old one went and the carpenter did a wonderful job with this one. Below: This feature was another thing I kept from the old bathroom but flipped it from the other end and had the carpenter put drawers in it. Before it was a hell hole. things got lost and the build was soooo old and creapy I didn't like using it for storage. Now it is perfect for storage.

Charlikin, I think everyone who undergoes a major project feels, at some point, that maybe they shouldn't have even started it. It's natural. It's just that right now with all the problems you can't envision it all coming together. But it will. It always does. In preparation for your meeting tomorrow, I'd come up with a list of 3 things that are most important to you (i.e. preserving as much space as you can, etc) and then prioritize them. That way you can clearly communicate with the contractors what's most important to you. As you go through the meeting, do what you've been doing which is when something doesn't appeal to you, ask for options and the cost of those options. If a solution directly conflicts with one of the three priorities you've laid out, then put it aside (i.e. dropping the ceiling any further is not an option because the ceiling is fairly low already...). I know this entire process is an emotional journey. In the meeting, try to remain calm and businesslike, ask for options and evaluate the pros/cons of those options. If you can't come up with a solution you can live with, I think someone on the bath forum suggested you interview other contractors. I know that would delay your project, but as another forum member has so wisely suggested, when you're ready to settle on something you're not happy with it's time to take a step back and regroup. Of course they said it more eloquently than that. Just this week I was presented with a huge plumbing estimate to do some work outside the scope of my remodel. We called the contractor and explained that there was no way, no how we could afford that solution. After looking at the plumbing again (about 4 of us for quite some time), they were able to develop a solution I could live with that didn't carry any additional cost above my contract. Sometimes you do have to be a little assertive in asking for more options. You'd be surprised how creative people can be when you get a group together to solve a problem. Just try to relax, have a cup of tea (if that's your thing) and know that it will all work out. It always does. Let us know how you make out tomorrow.

You don't want the 24" cabinets. Recently we stayed in a rental condo, and the first part of the week I kept thinking -- not really studying on it -- something's odd about this bathroom sink. I found it a bit uncomfortable. I felt too far from the mirror, and at first I thought it was a trick of the lighting ... I blamed it on the lack of natural light /sconce lights above the mirror instead of beside it ... but after a couple days I actually stopped and LOOKED at the details of the bathroom, and I realized that the vanity was deeper than ours at home (which is standard). I decided I didn't like it: I'm very short, and I didn't particularly like the extra space between me and the sink ... and the extra space between me and the mirror. If I had this 24" deep cabinet all the time, would I become used to it? Maybe. But most of us value floor space more than deep counter tops /deep drawers in the bathroom. On the other hand, if you could have kitchen cabinets that're more narrow, no problem.

PRO/ Colleen Price: "I did layers of french linen, then dry brushing paris gray, then dark wax and then more dry brushing of the french linen, the paris gray and a mix of pure white with the paris gray until I got the look I wanted. It was really just experimenting with those three colors and dark wax in many layers. Cant say how many, it was just until I was satisfied with it. I used french linen, paris gray, pure white, dark wax and clear wax. I started with a layer of french linen. I put dark wax over that, then dry brushed paris gray over that to kinda make it streaky. Then i just started sort of experimenting and applying dark wax then a mix of paris gray and pure white. I really cant tell you exactly because I just kept adding layers until I got the look I wanted. But I think the key was really the dry brushing technique. I think if you just play around with those three colors, some dry brushing (with a very dry brush) and some dark wax here and there you can get the same look. Its all about trial and error. French linen first, then layers of dry brushing Paris gray and white, in between layers of dark and light wax. It's really hard to say exactly. It was just a matter of experimenting with the three colors and the waxes, until I got what I wanted. Dry brushing is just dipping the brush in the paint lightly, and dabbing off much of the paint before applying. No real formula for this piece, it was just adding different layers and techniques until I was satisfied with the look.
