My sister's name is Mary-Ann and our parents didn't give her a middle name. When someone asks her what her middle name is she says it's "dash".

My cat's name is Peeka-Boo, Peeka for short. His vet keeps spelling it Peek-a-boo. Pronouncing a double dash is trouble! LOL :0)

Rusty's 'joke' wasn't funny when it first began to be circulated years and years ago, probably via the office FAX. It's really not funny now.

While there are no "rules" for the smiles threads, there are intentions for them:

We try to generally keep it clean here in keeping with the houzz rules of the road. And we try not to offend anyone, though clearly some will find something funny that others do not. If it's not to your taste, please take it with a grain of salt and skip on by. If you're not sure if someone might take offense, then share something else instead. Discretion is your friend.

The point of this thread is to bring a smile to someone's face, not create hard feelings, take offense or cause upset to anyone.

Thanks for the reminder Annie. I would just like to mention that when I read the joke it never dawned on me that the speech was in anyway racial stereotype. Call me stupid, call me ignorant, I don't care, but it never dawned on me. I thought it was a caricature of the situation of the joke.

My thoughts exactly! ! ! But then I am probably one of the most UN racist people in existence!

There are quite often jokes posted here that I find borderline offensive, and/or in extremely poor taste, but I don't (and I won't) complain about them, nor will I chastise the poster, I simply skip over them.
