Does anyone remember how long we've been doing this??? We have become an established tradition! So here we go again! We start around 9 in the morning, and swap till we drop, pausing to share snacks and take photos. Bring your overabundance of plants, seeds, and cuttings (identified as rooted or unrooted), along with any garden related doodads.Examples of doodads would be books and magazines, flower pots, planters, tools, gloves, compost, mulch, windchimes, bird houses, feeders, etc.Do try to respect the spirit of the Swap, and bring things that you would like to have yourself, but don't stress yourself over it. If you are just starting or just starting over, just bring something, cookies or fruit...or hand lotion for our poor abused hands... will work fine. Don't worry about swapping value for value, as we always have lots to share.Rules are simple, and amount to "do unto others as you would have them do unto you." Don't take anything without asking, and if you have arranged a pre-trade and your trade partner declines to complete the trade (maybe what you thought was an orchid turns out to be a white Cemetery Iris and she does not feel like trading her David Austin Rose for such a thing, or maybe she already has 5000 White Cemetery Iris), there's no need to discuss; just trade that white Cemetery Iris to somebody else! Springtime is budding all around us, such an exciting time of year, and it will be good to catch up with everyone and to share not only our plants but our thoughts, tips, wisdom, and stories. Can't wait to see everyone!

Looks like I'll have some rooted angels trumpets, white datura, and seeds for wild liatris that grows in my pasture.

I was just watching the weather forecast.

Brrr, not sure my plants will survive the next few days and recover in time.

I had just taken my succulents out of the garage LOL.

Have to put them back in tomorrow, and the garden looks either festive or like a hobo camp, depending on your point of view, with all the different colors of garage sale blankets over everything else!

I have been potting up some of my famous lemon mint and some blue heartleaf skullcap, which is a wonderful butterfly plant.

It seeds itself, it has beautiful blue flowers and silvery foliage, once established it cannot be killed, and it grows to about 3 feet high.

Son of a - Guys, I hate to do this to you, but I'm going to have to bow out. A few of you might be aware of this situation we've got. In short, a friend of mine has been staying with us while she was pregnant. She was in a bad spot, we had the room, so here we are. Anyway, she had the baby on Thursday, and she's coming home sometime Saturday but we don't know when they'll discharge her and the baby. So I'd better be available Saturday. Gah! I'm sorry I won't be able to make it, but I've got to choose taking care of her over socializing with my beloved gardening buddies. Sorry again! I hope you guys have a blast!

dannab1 I have oodles of MG's in fact I have 16 or more little cups of them & more in the garden LOL (Donna wanted to make sure I had lots growing for her to see out her kitchen window so when we were yanking the old vines down she shook the vines to drop more seeds), and of course she thinks it's hilarious as to how over run my garden is. Ya know I just can't throw them in the trash so will be sending a bunch to school with the grands to share with their friends too. LOL I have a rooted piece of Hoya I can bring to you if you want it. Also spider plant, 2 varieties of mother of thousands & some babies from my burrows tail. Let me know OK. I would Love some of your Catmint. Also some of the Bee Balm (what color & heigth?) Sylvia, How many vines do you want??? A dozen or more ..... haha ... seriously. Donna & I will be bringing (some are just sprouted) 16 Morning Glories (mixed Lavendar & Grandpa Ott) 3 in a cup 16 starts of Easter Egg plant - 3 in a cup 5 Black Hollyhocks - 2 in a cup 2 Black Currant Datura - 1 in a cup 2 Yellow Datura - 1 in a cup 3 Ranunculus - 1 in a cup 7 Lambs Ear - 3 in a cup 3 Pink Dianthus - 3 in a cup several "lillies" (I thought they were Canna's LOL) If anyone wants I can also bring a clipping from my Lavender Lady Passion flower or an unknown variety of passie, or a clipping from my shell vine (let me know or my shears won't touch em) If anyone has moon flowers that aren't white I'd be interested in getting one. I could not stop to put out signs due to heavy Easter weekend traffic. There is an arrow at University South of the zoo. And how are usual site has a sign that says private parking because there's a big family picnic schedule for today. We are, however, in that parking lot, and the family is it has been very gracious about it. Lots of plants lots of people lots of good Garden chitchat.

Linda, I do have roses but I don't think I should share with anyone right now. I've lost 3 to Rose rosette disease this year and numerous others for no apparent reason the past two years. Maybe it was also Rose rosette and they just didn't show the obvious signs. Marshall's Grain is having an awesome sale so I picked up extra's of a few things. See if any of these interest you. Bougainvillea cassandra plant Luna hibiscus Plumbago (light blue flowers) Santa Barbara Mexican Bush Sage white trailing lantana I don't think this is the same as Sylvia's plumbago. This is not a ground cover type and has light blue flowers.

Ooh, I need some of that liatris!

I tried some of it years and years ago, and as I now realize, I killed it with kindness. No matter how much I watered it, it never did any better, and it finally croaked. Then one day I was driving through Alvarado and saw a whole line of it growing through a fence (only place the mower couldn' t reach) in a dry field in the heat of summer, blooming like crazy...

Same here Sylvia. I've bought liatris plants several times and it always dies. Seamommy, yours is beautiful.

Last year I bought a white one. Maybe it will survive. They are a great cut flower.

Also, is there a separate thread for our lists (as we’ve done in the past?) I have way too many tomato plants, pepper seedlings, yellow and green onion sets, amaranth and Swiss chard. I potted up some daffodil and grape hyacinth bulbs; if they are up in time, I’ll bring some, as well as a few small mums. I’m sure there will be other items as well, just have to look around and start a list.

Forgot to include my don't forget to bring reminder. So here goes! Don't forget to bring water to keep yourselves and maybe your plants hydrated, sunblock, hand sanitizer, sunglasses, hats, maybe a sweater, since it is April and this is Texas. Wear comfy clothes and shoes. You might bring a notebook and of course bring your camera. You might bring some snacks to share.
