Furniture Design Dilemma living room

Help with layout! Living room is very "cut-up".

My LR is quite small and cut up. It's 11'3 wide and 15.5 long. The doorway beside the sideboard/tv causes it to be offset. The french doors open out btw. I have a large sofa and loveseat right now and it doesn't fit. I'd like to buy new furniture. I'm leaning towards a sectional because I imagine it lining up with the tv, however the left side seating would have to be undersized due to french doors. the wall in front of that stairway is actually a pony wall on both sides. To the right of the sectional is a 6 foot open door way that extends into the entrance area of front door and continues onto dining room. It's all open with vaulted ceilings and I think it could be very cute, but I just don't know how. Help! TIA.

Photos of the space, please! They will help us a lot. Can the TV be moved? Wiring the pony wall for the TV might give you some options. Avoid a sectional. To get the look/feel of one check out reversible chaise sofas. The chaise portion can be flipped from right to left for more arranging options. If the French doors open out, you could float the sofa mid-floor with a walkway behind it to the doors and TV on the pony wall

Thank you! I didn't even consider that wall for the tv. There is a very high wall right beside it as well. I think that idea of the sectional in front of the french doors might look nice and inviting as you walk in. You are right about the sectional, it would be great to have the flexibility to flip it. I will post some photos asap.

justgottabme: Yes! excellent plan! The Tv needs to be in that corner next to the fireplace -- either mounted on the wall or sitting on a console or cabinet. Having a cabinet in that spot would anchor that whole corner. And more excellent ideas above too! Love the idea of bookshelves in each of the corners -- perhaps just try basic Ikea Billy shelving -- or other build-it-yourself shelves (try stores like Targer or Walmart)-- just to see if that plan will work for you? Or look for vintage shelving or bookcases on your local Craigs List! Swivel chairs can be found -- check your local Craigs List! But for now -- once you move the TV -- try placing one sofa facing the fireplace -- and another one facing the window -- forming the classic L-shape.

Really like @Nancy Ingram's suggestion - the “chaise lounge to enjoy the view” is really great. @Lou Pimentel We mocked your room to dimensions but for some minor simplifications. Here are some initial thoughts. In the following layout (styled Boho-Glam just for example), the two chairs in the main seating area can both be rotated back to face the windows and the fabulous view. A divider could mount your TV, and create privacy for the dining space. The great view can also be enjoyed from the dining space. There is also a separate conversation space that we feel does justice to your room’s diagonal corner space. As one enters the room, the eye-line is guided towards the kitchen back wall with storage and some decor. This wall could be highlighted more as well, but in the overall look, we feel better this way. We are working on another layout that some of us like better than the above, so stay tuned.

As I mentioned all this furniture is going downstairs except the sideboard if possible to keep it up here. I have to replace 1 of the doors, maybe both. Open to suggestions for window coverings, I'm partial to curtains but would consider roman blinds if they were soft and drapey. The paint is a strange color called Elephant White. I'd like to change it Also what do you think about capping the pony wall? For colors I love soft muted grey, greige...greens, blues. natural textures, black for accents. My other dream is to cover the popcorn ceiling with white tongue and groove and faux exposed wood covering over the beams.
