Something about Food Stamps that I found shocking...
Comments (84)Debbie, I do live very near (less than 2 miles) from the most violent city in the country. It's ghetto from one end to the other, there are no good sections of this city left where decent people can live. It IS very scary. The info I posted was absolutely FIRST HAND, and only the tip of the iceberg. You see, I used to teach in that city and my husband is a utility company bill collector who visits these people in their homes. If you think what I posted is scary, you'd be absolutely terrified if you ever actually saw the city. Back on topic--sadly, the people who live there are 4-5-6th generation welfare families. Most don't have or remember any relatives who worked for a living. Collecting welfare, food stamps, and other forms of assistance IS the family business. They have no education, and honestly--many don't know that it's NOT good for their children to be fed bbq potato chips and soda for breakfast. My state is spending an unbelievable amount to keep these people going, keeping them housed, fed, cool, stocked with phones, etc. I think in this discussion, we have to remember that there are 2 very distinct groups of people who get food stamps and other assistance. I don't think anyone here has a problem with offering short-term help to those who have hit a temporary bump in the road. That's what the system is for and I think we're all glad the aid is there for those folks. But it's abominable that those of us who work hard, scrimp at home, save coupons, wear old clothes, don't use air-conditioning, who limit the size of our families to numbers we can support---then have to turn around and pay huge amounts in taxes to subsidize those who are content to scam the system unnecessarily. That's the thing that those of us who are upset are complaining about....See MoreArticle I saw today....written by a FL teacher
Comments (33)I have a daughter that teaches 4th grade in a city school. She sees students that need help every school year. Sadly, the parents do not agree. She had a young boy that created havoc in the classroom every day. She tried so hard to help him. He would walk up to her face to face and say to her, “you don’t like me, do you?” She always told him yes she liked him but not some of the things he was doing in her classroom. On numerous occasions he would say to her, “kiss my ass.” Finally, after months of this she took him by the hand and went directly to the office and stood in front of the principal and said, “ he is no longer in my class, he is your problem. I have asked for help so many times and I am now done, I am finished with his disrupting my class on a daily basis.” As long as my daughter put up with it nothing was getting done. She finally ended it. The mom was contacted so many times and would not allow them to do anything with him. That is what teachers are facing. If the parents say no then you are stuck. A lot of parents don’t care these days. If someone else is willing to watch their kids they are ok with it.. parents need to wake the hell up. Teaching children right from wrong starts in infancy, not when they start to school and it becomes someone else’s problem. Guns don’t kill anyone until someone picks it up and pulls the trigger. Stricter guns laws won’t help the problem. If someone wants a gun they will get one. Legal or not. It breaks my heart to hear this happened to these families. I pray for them each and every day. I’m not sure anyone knows the answer. Let’s hope one is found....See MoreSomething that I saw this morning.,,
Comments (44)I saw this this morning. I know some will refuse to view it because of the source (eyeroll) but is it a very well thought out opinion. IMO Even if you believe the worst is happening at our border, the parents and the children are being well cared for. They are being clothed, fed three meals a day, and provided housing with indoor plumbing and exercise facilities. They have medical care and they are safe from drug dealers and gangs. My God, this is the United States of America. To accuse any American of acting in the same manner Nazis treated Jews and Gays and other hated groups is beyond the pale. Just stop it. People who invoke “Nazis” as it relates to the present day demean themselves and our country as a whole. Take a deep breath. Remember we live in the U.S.A. and be thankful and be gracious to the people with whom you disagree and then they will be gracious to you. Then vote when you have a chance for people who support your positions. That is how we settle our disagreements in this republic https://townhall.com/columnists/brucebialosky/2018/07/01/stop-whining-about-discord-when-you-are-causing-the-discord-n2495394?utm_source=thdaily&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=nl&newsletterad=...See MoreWhat's an animal lover to do?!?!?!
Comments (35)I am already on the list for june. They will call me to come pick up a trap the day before she is scheduled to go in. The tricky thing is that I cannot actually take her. I have a severe cat allergy and cant be in a car with one. My eyes swell shut and my throat itches and burns. My sister always takes them for me, so I hope she is available, otherwise I will have to take one of SOs pickup trucks and put her in the bed. I dont wanna do that. Again, finding them homes isnt an issue. If someone at the vet or the place that is going to fix them wants them, they can have them. If not, they can hang around here. No biggie. I am not going to attempt to tame them,as I have no intention of petting them or bringing them in the house. There are lots of places for them to shelter on our land. I feed them in SOs shop, which is far away from my crawlspace. Only mama takes advantage of that right now. She hunts for the kittens. I imagine that soon she will lead them over there where the cat food is though. I look forward to all of them being fixed so I dont have to worry about it anymore. Its just a headache....See Moresusanwv
