I recently bought a faucet on eBay because it was discontinued and the eBay seller looked less scammy than the other sources I found for it online. I think I paid about 1/3 of what it would have cost retail. 1/10 sounds a little sketchy, but then again, you‘d only be losing $120! My faucet was fine. The box looked a little old, but it was certainly genuine. And it really was the only one I could find—if you’re seeing lots of the same one for that deep a discount, its a red flag.

Ebay isn't what it used to be. Now there are tons of counterfeit goods and very dishonest sellers.

Amazon also sells open box plumbing (at a less deep discount) but you may have to dig to find it. I’ve bought many items from the so called “Amazon Warehouse” and been mildly disappointed only once.

Through Amazon Warehouse I bought my kitchen/laundry faucet, bathroom sink/shower fixture, matching towel bars/toilet paper/hand towel/wall mirror, as well as lights for the bathrooms, exterior, bedroom, closet and hallway. I saved a bundle that way.

It isn't the easiest to sort through all their stuff but can be worth it. My Blanco faucet was $100 instead of $381. My other really good deals were on some Hudson Valley lights that were more than 70% off.

The really good part being if anything isn't as described ( I mainly bought "used/like new" or comes "repackaged") you can return it for free. None of those items needed to be returned but I have had other things that did.

I bought my Kohler faucet off eBay also, $225 instead of $700. It was bought by a woman who changed her mind before install.

Thank you so much to everyone who replied! I went ahead and ordered the faucet. To all appearances, it is genuine. The parts have all kinds of little numbers and letters engraved on them, so if it's a counterfeit they went to a lot of trouble. I sent images to a company rep and she said it looks like the real deal.

Weirdly, the faucet was made in 2012 and was one of 12 that were for sale. It did have a few pieces that were discolored; I have no idea whether that's normal. They weren't visible pieces, just interior parts.

Glad to hear it worked out! I imagine there are leftovers on so many projects—things that can no longer be returned. I was glad I rolled the dice and got the faucet that I really wanted. And happy for you too :-)
