She's done - backsplash, grout and ALL! Grey and White Kitchen
Comments (30)Thanks everyone. I'm all smiley and giddy hearing your kind comments. It melts me heart. I'm glad to hear people like the backsplash tile. It is pretty bold. I was also THRILLED with how the stain on the island turned out. Interestingly, lots of people say the kitchen has a peaceful look and feel to it and that wasn't necessarily something I was aiming for but my kitchen mission statement did include "casual but sophisticated/elegant" which might boil down to "peaceful or tranquil". We feel very blessed to have been able to do such a large scale kitchen remodel and are thrilled with how everything turned out. It also means we won't be moving for the next 15+ years! I can't wait until the bar stools are in and I can start serving snacks to my kids there. We are borrowing one bar stool right now and it gets a lot of use. clarygrace and others - I'm glad to hear you think the colors are coordinate b/c I was in a quandary about that at one point. I can't wait to see your kitchen and island. We love the shape of ours but did it b/c it worked within our constraints. We didn't want to mess with the existing deck outside the bay windows and we couldn't push right much more either b/c of the powder room. And speaking of the powder room - here are pictures of that which was also part of this remodel: tea4all - the pantry is pretty small as far as walk-in pantries go. Finished dimensions are 5.5' long by 46'' wide. We weren't originally going to do a pantry but it made sense with the rest of the layout (it brought the oven closer to the rest of the kitchen) and I am really glad we did! It was actually framed larger and had to be redone b/c large aisles were more important to me than a few more inches in the pantry. The other detail I forgot to include - the grout color on the backsplash is Custom Grout Light Smoke and on the floor it is Lacrete Parchment (just in case someone really wants to know - ha!)...See More90% finished kitchen reveal and Backsplash HELP!
Comments (33)WOW.. Thank you all so much for your input! It means a lot! I may be even more confused now as to what to do, but this is helpful! bahacca: Gorgeous pic! And i see what you're saying by some dark accents to compliment the cabinets.. that looks good.. Burnsie2: I really loved the sunflower one, but it isnt calacatta, its carara and apparently too grey for my space? Thanks for asking! dianalo: thanks for the compliment! I feel like the sideways bowling pins are a bit too traditional? But then again what do I know. The basket weave is really nice, I'm sure it looks awesome in your bathroom! controlfreakecs: do you have any suggestions? mcmjilly: it seems like lots of people like that one! Maybe I need to see it used in a kitchen so I can get the feel of it? mpgamom: LOL do you live in toronto? if so, it is called Saltillo tile! And that Sarah richardson pic with the ming green sunflowers is where I got the idea for the sunflowers and why I went to that store in particular since both her and candice richardson shop there... but they weren't very helpful!! thank you so much for those inspiration pics! I LOVE the sunflower but it comes in carara not calacatta :( Thank you for the compliment and I do like the calacatta subways... and the hex as well, because they have some warm tones to go with the cabinets? badgergal: thank you so much for the compliment! This kitchen came inspired from all of you guys!! colorfast: I like the one with the different shaped squares as well.. do you think all of them are too grey even though they have some warm tones? The warm tones arent translating too much in the photograph. I'll post a pic tonight with the samples agains my wall! Steph2000: haha I do remember! it is 5x3. I was going to have a breakfast bar, but I really wanted an island.. and it really works, functionally! good luck with your home! I'm sure it will be beautiful! francoise47: thank you! and yeah I like those too! Elba1: are the harelquin tiles the ones with the diamonds with the little box on the end? as dianalo called it, the sideways bowling pin? amyktexas: do you have any pics? I'd love to see both kitchens!! ellendi: even with the bit of warmth from that particular marble? I just feel like cream subway tiles will just be... boring? I wanted something elegant and pretty.. I am still as confused as ever... I do love the calacatta, and could see myself doing a subway calacatta with a focus over the range in something like the squares, or the bowling pin... or entirely subways? But am open to having accents of brown to highlight the cabs as you guys suggested! Keep it coming!! I heart you all!...See MoreBacksplash advice for my grey & white kitchen
Comments (28)Jeffrey court riverwash is very similar to fireclay foggy morning. My local tile store had both on hand, and they were *very* close. Fireclay comes in a wide range of sizes. It's pricey, but absolutely gorgeous. I was also shopping for a tile like this. My short list included Senio Newport in Alabaster Craquele or Transparent White. And my very favorite was an italian tile I hadnt heard of before... I cant remeber the manuf name, and my quote just says Aspen Loft Bianco in White. It was a white tile, but with an interesting finish, almost metallic. Looked so nice with my marble-esque quartz counters. All of these were in the $11/sqft range. Here is the aspen loft bianco -...See MoreNeed help with backsplash for Super White Quartzite countertops please
Comments (159)Kpenni so glad you started this thread! I am learning a lot myself. I am putting Super White on my island and silver grey granite (looks like soapstone) on my perimeter so will be looking for the same things as you, back splash and window treatments so thank you for starting this thread! Beth hope you will be around to help me when I need it for backsplash because you are the queen of tile!...See MorePenelope McDowell
