I love the room that yaya posted, and honestly think aqua would complement your coral kitchen. But I don't think the aqua works at all with your curtains or art. I am a little confused re: why you don't think you can replace the art; if you look for a poster or print on art.com or a similar site, you could just keep your existing frame and put in a different print, for less than you're likely to spend on paint. But you do need to find something that coordinates with the drapes. I think a pale green would complement your coral kitchen better than a blonde color; the kitchen is bright and cheerful and beachy (which is why the aquas would complement that well) whereas blonde is more muted and subdued. I don't have any paint decks, but for a green, I'd suggest something that is a pale celery color, vs. a more olive-y green. Maybe match the light green that is in the leaves on your curtains. I'd also consider replacing the olive velvet mat in your artwork with a white or off-white mat (you can order custom cut mat inexpensively at pictureframes.com), to make the picture work better with your new wall color, whether you choose gold or green.

Thanks, Jeana--I am posting a photo of the comforter from the website I purchased it from. There are other photos on the link below that show how it looks with teal. So I thought of doing the bedroom in compatible cream with a bluish accent wall. The master bath is WHITE (tile and vanity). I got several samples of blues, but decided that I'd rather have a more neutral bath. comforter: wall art already purchased with muted blues & greens (but can be used in other bedrooms): One of the bedrooms upstairs has svelte sage and it is one of my favorite rooms. We'll be repainting the 3 other bedrooms in the next phase. The carpet in the family room is a mixture of beiges and browns. We are replacing in the spring. We will also be replacing the carpet in my office. I was going to get the same carpet in the FR and office. Then the following year, we will replace the carpeting throughout the LR/DR, hall and master bedroom, keeping it very light and neutral as it is now. Pictures of the actual space would be helpful. Hopefully someone can recommend some paint colors. Your stone is gorgeous, as are the floors. But when you say the space is dark and depressing and I look at that rug, it seems to me to be dark and depressing, too. Any chance you could change it for something more calming, lighter, even a little vibrant? Difficult to make suggestions without seeing your rooms and furnishings, but I think you could do better than that rug to create the feeling you desire.

Everdebz - I don't like beiges or tans. I use to, until I learned NOT to be afraid of color. Whatever style the following is, I have to say that it is what I am now. lol This one is my favorite! You asked me about why I painted the outside of my door teal? That is where it all began. I saw a door painted that color and I loved it. My door leads from the kitchen to a large sundeck. I have an old wicker set that I am going to paint a very light teal color to coordinate with the door color. I already purchased material to re-cover the chairs. My son is an upholsterer so he is going to do them for me. (lucky me) Here is the pattern. The solid color for the seat, the floral for the backs and cushions. My patio sat is very similar to this brown set ( this is just a pic I found someplace) Here are the patterns for the cushions. The are all made now and ready for spring! I will also use Tidewater in my kitchen (someplace) with a darker subway tile. Still haven't selected the tile as yet but it will have to work with Tidewater. I want the colors on my deck to go with my kitchen. There is no entry into the kitchen.
