The code would prohibit you from doing that. The saniflow macerating toilet my only be installed in situations where a gravity flow drain cannot be achieved scuh as in a basement where the toilet location is lower than the house main drain. Connecting a saniflow macerating toilet is not as simple as one might think either. There are a number of code requirements that make it difficult. 1. The saniflow toilet holding tank must have a separate vent running through the roof of the structure and that vent may not be connected to any other vents in the structure. 2. Even though the discharge line from the saniflow is a 1-1/2" or 2" line, it may not be connected to a branch line in the structure. It must discharge into the house "Main Drain" and that main drain must be a 4" line.

Panasonic bath fans are very quiet. I have installed at least 4 of them in houses I have owned or own. Venting bath fans out the soffitt is not the best thing for your attic. The purpose of attic ventilation is to get the moist air out. Venting a bath fan out a soffitt just sends the air right up into the attic. Lots of general contractors do it but not smart ones. I know of a house where 2 baths were vented with one fan and apparently every noise from one bath was heard in the other. Can't verify that but a trades person told me about it.

"Did my builder take a short cut?" Water doesn't run uphill, what is a better option in your opinion? What indicator did you notice that the builder might have cheaped out?

Michael, squatty potty may work just as well...if I am not home alone at least. My solution has been in use for 18 years now. I am at a point now where some changes need to be made for other bathroom duties. Will be lengthening the vanity to allow room for a seating position at the sink. This may necessitate moving the commode about 7 inches closer to the wall and moving a heating duct. DH's wheels are turning. Just as an aside, I also have an elevator that DH adapted from an hydraulic mechanics lift table.
