Help, How To Decorate Our New Home?
Comments (9)I find new bedding is where it is best to start the decor part of a bedroom. The bedding you have is fine, but really I think you could do better with that nice bed and other pieces I see. If you want navy accents then find bedding you love with the color from the headboard and navy. I would help with that but for some reason my computer does not want to post pics this morning. I would look for bedding that has those 2 colors and maybe a yellow or lime for the other accent. I love drapes in bedrooms so once you have decided on bedding then add those....See MoreIdeas on how to decorate this 3 sided fireplace!
Comments (25)I agree with bumblebeez, that you may as well leave the wallpaper until you're ready for a proper redo. if you like how the wallpaper looks for now, then that's what matters! I agree with others who say you should keep the fireplace since it's nice to have and it makes a nice divider for a large room. when you are ready to redo the tile, keep it simple-- so, no to patterned tile, stenciling, etc. you already have lots of patterns in your room when it comes to rugs, upholstrey, etc. if you keep the fireplace simple, it gives more flexibility to choose different room accessories if and when you want to change things up. so my suggestion: a white brick veneer for the vertical surfaces, and some kind of dark tile for the flooring around it. you could have a little fun with the floor tile shapes. choose smaller tiles since it's a smaller area....See MoreI need some suggestions on how to decorate the fireplace wall
Comments (7)Thank you all for your suggestions. Like a few of you, I was also thinking that the shelves were nice as is with nothing on them, but I was worried I had just gotten used to seeing them empty. I do agree there is room for a nice display at the bottom area. The center area is for a TV. The bottom area are cabinets, there is acid washed glass in them. I was a little disappointed that they seem so bright, but at this stage of the build, I will see how I feel after the furniture is in....See MoreTOTALLY STUCK on how to decorate 2 story wall area above fireplace
Comments (4)I would avoid decorating above the level of that crown on top of the fireplace and bookcases. Keep decor where the people live and eyes won't tend to drift up into the void. The best way to keep the focus on the living area and not the ceiling is by styling the shelves properly. That would be with 1/3 books (standing, leaning, or stacked to hold another item) 1/3 large decor pieces that can be identified from the seating, and 1/3 open space. Right now you have lots of "littles" there that can't really be identified. Are the shelves adjustable; are they lighted? Would you consider painting or papering the backs of them? You can do a non-permanent backing using luan or foam core custom cut to fit the backs of the shelves. Paint or paper it and you can even switch them out seasonally....See MoreRL Relocation LLC
