Comments (1)I see a few things that aren’t horrible, by any means, but could be changed. Mirror and sideboard, for instance, as mirror is too large for the sideboard and it overwhelms the room, reflecting the t v. Try the art over the sideboard and add a floor lamp where the plant is, as it will do double duty for the sofa and the art. Have you ever thought about adding a floor to ceiling strip of trim to separate the dining area from the living area and painting that wall a color? Comments (8)Try a warm, neutral wall paint for the entire space, decluttering along the way, which also breaks up the flow, and see how it looks. You can always do an accent wall later on. Comments (4)Sure. The first thing you need to do is put together an ideabook with inspirational photos. Looks like you have started this and you like whites, blues and greens (as far as I can tell). Next: explore who this room will function for you and how it functions in relation to other rooms. Next thing: make a workable floor plan. Next: buy furniture as needed. Final: decorate. A lot of houzz discussions begin with the last step, which will get you no where and wast $ So, my first question is: tv: is this a good location for you? I see you might want to view if from the dining area. Is the height and issue? door: do you use this door? With 4 kids, my first inclination is that I would recommend a sectional (which I rarely recommend but in this case works). the sectional would run along the wall that the sofa is on, with a shorter leg facing the tv....See Morecamer116
