Kitchens Design Dilemma Home Decorating

Daltile White or Arctic White and matching paint

I am redoing my kitchen. House is from 1924 and I am going for an all white farmhouse look..
I have finally decided on a white Rohl farm sink, farm table and Florida Wave quartzite countertop. Now I need to decided on backsplash and white paint for cabinets. Floors are hardwood floors.
I am debating between the white and arctic white Daltile subway tile for the backsplash.
Any thoughts? Also what white paint would you do for cabinets for each of those tiles? BM Dove White, Simply White, Decorators White?? The whites are always hard to pick and match!!
Here are some of the elements already selected.. Kitchen faces west.

Sure hope you will never want to seat anyone at the ends of that table. As for the white take a tile and color match it that is as close as you will ever get and BTW backsplash is the last item to choose and whites are hard to match in different materials

Patricia the kitchen is long but narrow so the table can only sit people on the long sides.
Do I pick paint color for cabinets first and then the white subway backsplash tile?
I thought Tile was first! I am so glad I can come to this site for help! :)

I don't have a direct answer but I do think that it becomes easy to start over thinking these things. I saw an apartment in Elle DÃÂ©cor or one of those magazines that actually had seven shades of white paint on the trim and walls in one of the rooms. The designer had done this on purpose and said that you really couldn't discern great differences between the whites and it just made things look a bit more dimensional. It looked that way in the photos, anyway: "white" not stripy or mismatched. If you think they both read as "white" and have a leaning toward one I would just pick the one you are leaning toward and call it done.

I'd be very suspect of that statement. White is, hands down, THE hardest color to match shades. Even if you were to get the same color from the same manufacturer, it's not easy to match shades. Now you're going to go to a different company (albeit from the same corporation)-- it's going to show a difference-- one that you can plainly see.

Daltile Arctic White Subway Where, when, how much?

I registered just to answer this question. I bought a small amount of Daltile Rittenhouse arctic white subways this May because I wanted a really clean white. The bullnose pieces were still available online at Home Depot at the time. For the wall tile, soap dish, and cove base I went to Daltile's website, clicked on Our Locations and Retail Dealers and found a local shop that carries it (I live in IL). I paid 3.57/sq ft at the local shop for the subways and the tile was ready for me to pick up in a couple of weeks (a few pieces of cove base took a little longer). Soap dish was 8.86, cove base was 2.93 each, and corner cove base was 4.63 each. And no shipping charges of course. Note: While the website listed just corner cove as a trim piece (no mention of right and left), when I ordered locally the guy informed me there are both left and right corner cove trim pieces (I needed one of each).

Pick the cabinet color first. That's one of the first things to be installed and once they're painted, you can't change the color easily. In fact, you can have everything installed but the backsplash and *then* decide on the tile color.

Also, picking out white paint is pretty challenging. You'll want to make sure they go with your slab and your sink. I have white uppers, counters, and walls, and I spent a fair bit of money and time on white paint samples to ensure I got the right one. I painted large sample boards and looked at them in natural light at different times of the day, and also in artificial light (leds). It was a pain, but once I made my decision, I was 100% comfortable with it (no what-ifs over here). I think I tested around 12 different white paints, and it was worth it.

Your slab should compliment the cab color. Since you know the slab, pick a white with indertones that go with your slab. I have color-matched conversion-varnished (painted) White Dove cabs...love the color.
