Blake I tell most people to average around 500-700 per hole for top of the line windows. SInce your home is probably all Double Hung windows, your looking around 500 - 600 with a wrap on the exterior. It's tough to really project any cost because of where you may live. I live in MN so our cost is inflated more than Texas. So please keep that in mind. Good Luck!

Garden windows are made by many different manurfacturers and are custom made to fit your requirements, including the projection. A professional window measurer can get the exact GW to fit into your opening, I'm sure. Today they come with casement windows on the left and right sides with the crank handle located as close to the inside as possible and are the most practical choice. Although my first love is porches, I've installed windows in the Northeast for 30 years to pay the bills. I am now retired one year. I'm not sure what you mean by a shelf, but the new GW's come with a new 1 1/8" bottom as part of the window. Additionally, I understand you to say that you will be reducing the opening by 8" in width to accomadate new wall cabinets. Is that correct? If it is, then you would be reducing the width by 8" and will have to fill in the inside (EZ), stud, insulation and sheathing and then apply the stucco to the outside. If I am understanding you correctly and that is what you have to do then you could expect to pay approximately 500.00 for just that part of the alteration. Some follow up, if anyone is interested. I talked to the Kolbe dealer again. He said their prices are close to Marvin's and not to choose Kolbe for price. A bigger difference might be the dealer mark-up than the product itself. That dealer is a 45 min away and unknown to my contractor. There are also mixed reviews on yelp. My contractor is getting bids for Marvin from two local stores that are reliable. The one I met with yesterday was great (and came recommended by my architect and interior designer). Fun fact: since Marvin makes all windows to order, there isn't really an up-charge for a "custom" size. (I'm trying to match the windows in the front of my 1940s bungalow and some the dimensions are non-standard ). The Marvin book calls out sizes in 6" increments, but they can make windows to any spec, to 1/8".

There is an ancient paradox called the Ship of Theseus that asks if you have a wooden ship and everytime the ship returns from a voyage a number of the wooden planks are replaced. If you reach a point where all of the planks have been replaced, is it still the original ship? There is also a more modern version called Washington's Ax, that asks is an ax that once belonged to old George still his ax if the head and the handle have both been replaced over the years? So a question for Raye Smith since you are clearly a restoration advocate...if an older window during restoration needed a stile replaced, or a stile and a rail, or two stiles and a rail, or even both stiles and both rails...or perhaps what if 50% of an original rail and/or stile was repaired using wood putty, or what if it was 90% repaired using wood putty....when does restoration become replacement? If all four rails and stiles needed replacement with new wood during restoration, how would that differ from installing a new window as a possible option as millworkman suggested: If you had new windows made by a carpenter with individual divided lites and sash weights....?
