Slide Bar position - center or to the side?
Comments (32)Quick answer on our controls - mainly we did the single temp control for expense, it would have required more purchases to have them controlled separately. Possibly more plumbing time, too, I'm not sure whether it would require mixing the hot/cold differently for each and where our cut-off point is that they split to each head. Also we figured the wall was cluttered enough with 4 controls, 6 would have been even more! As to in use, it's not really a problem. If one person is using multiple heads, they generally want them all the same temperature anyway. The only time I'd have wanted them different is when I'm using the main shower and using the handheld for a child - I like the water a little warmer than they do. But generally we can compromise on a temperature that's between the two and it works out fine....See MoreNeed help with cabinet hardware for trash pull out area
Comments (7)Hi! I'm actually considering the hardware you show (is it Hickory/Belwith Keeler?). My KD suggests knobs on upper doors & pulls on lower since pulls sometime get caught on pants pockets. I can confirm this since we currently have a mix -- I changed hardware when we 1st moved-in & lower drawers still all have knobs. If you really don't want to move away from knobs on the lower doors & drawers, you might consider not putting anything on the false front panels (see Susie's picture -- she doesn't have anything on false front at sink). Put knob on drawer & pull on trash -- you definitely want a pull on the trash, we changed my Mom's out from a knob years ago, it is too small an area to easily pull the trash drawer out. Also use the size pull that is comfortable for your hand. My cabinet designer says you'll get the same force from both size pulls. Good luck....See MoreCabinet hardware-do you mix pulls w/ knobs?
Comments (24)I am close to getting our pulls figured out. I ordered a few samples of my favorites, and narrowed it down; then it was to decide on sizes. I'm trying them out on our existing cabinets, but the style of the new ones won't be terribly different, so it should work out. We have lived without door hardware for 25 years, so putting anything on the doors looks odd to us. I'm still torn between vertical and horizontal on my uppers. I've gone through a lot of 2-sided tape, sticking pulls to doors! I'm going horizontal on the few base cabinet doors that I have - trash pullout, sink cab, lazy susan door, and that seems right to me, so I can't figure why it doesn't quite look right on the uppers. I have one drawer stack that's 34" wide; the top will be 2 17"-wide drawers, so I'm putting two pulls each on the deep drawers. I'm torn between putting one or two pulls on the sink tip-out (30" cabinet)....See MoreRestoration Hardware Adeline cabinet pulls
Comments (4)Well actually, they go in next week! Even though they'll probably be all installed by next Tuesday or Wednesday I'll have to wait until the following Saturday to see them because I have to be out of town. Rotten timing. This week so far they knocked down some walls, put up a support beam, replaced our triple casement window, removed an old sliding glass door, removed sheet rock. Tomorrow they install the recessed lights, put up the new sheet rock, attend to some plumbing, move the gas line for the stove. I'm all tingling with anticipation : ) It's been a long time. I think this addition and remodel has been harder than when we built the house 21 years ago. But it will be well worth it. I'm not complaining. Actually I feel very, very blessed. : )...See Morewiscokid
