we've been struggling with this too. It seems most people use a marble basket weave or octagon tile, but we wanted something warmer. We finally found 2 bathroom inspirations while flipping through some bathroom design books at HD. Both used either a matte or cream colored subway tile and a light beige limestone floor. They also both featured warm wood tones for the vanities. Both bathrooms were very similar and exactly what we're looking for, so we've been referring to them when making decisions. Unfortunately I can't find either bathroom online and don't have a scanner. One book is This Old House Bathrooms and the room is called "Bath With a View." Probably at your HD or Lowes. We also just got back from our tile store and we selected honed light beige yurac travertine. It is a light cream color with some brown and gray veining. I think its important if you get a polished subway tile to get a polished floor. If you get a honed floor, get a matte subway tile.

Anyone have any thoughts on using shiny white or bisque subway tiles with silestone quartz in the stellar rose. My family thinks it will be too stark against the pattern of the counter which has a deep rose, oatmeal and recycled glass which appears silver. I say anything other than shiny white or bisque will clash. I would use kahlua cream grout to unify the counter and tile.Any thoughts would help.

we have leathered (honed?) absolute black perimeters and in each of the three bathrooms the island is butcher block and we love it no fingerprints, stuff (crumbs, flour etc) does show but clean up is easy and looks great i've had a very high end granite with lots of movement and i don't clean up any more now than i did then and i disliked it a lot......i wouldn't choose a "shiny" finish for the island but i'm not going to say it wouldn't be attractive... bil has absolute black (shiny) and it is difficult to keep looking nice...

We are putting in matte tile floors in the kitchen, dining room and great room on a open floor plan home. Would you put in white or off white tiles or beige tiles? I’m looking at Arizona tiles https://www.arizonatile.com/products/looks-like/natural-stone/pietra-italia/ Will this white or light beige always look dirty? Does this beige too dated or will it look too yellow? Our house will be more on the modern side.
