Are you quilting this weekend? Feb.14-16
Comments (10)I'm trying to get my big toe back into the quilting water. Being homebound six days out of seven from the snows, you'd think I could go quilting crazy, but I'm too blah with the cabin fever to have much patience quilting. Seems like despite the time I SHOULD have, it keeps getting cut short every time I go up to the sewing room. Stop and feed the chickens, stop and cook a meal, stop and etc. etc. etc. Pretty soon you just say to heck with it and unplug the iron. I'm trying to make one twelve inch block a day, and usually when I'm seriously quilting, I can bang our four or five, but this pattern has half the blocks consisting of 2.5" HSTs and after several quilts last year with those tiny components, I'm getting sort of sick of them. LOL. This was a twenty block New Year's Day mystery quilt, and it needs to be a thirty blocker minimum to be useful to me. I'll get there....See MoreWeekend quilting plans April 16-17
Comments (14)A friend and I went to a Quilt Show today. We drove 2 1/2 hours expecting the show to start at 1pm but it didn't start until 4pm. So, we had to entertain ourselves so we went to fabric stores!! Got some great deals and had a very good time. DH, DS and I are going to an auction tomorrow morning. We are expecting rain for the weekend too so I will not be staying if it is raining too hard. I have a couple of blocks to make for monthly committments and would like to get some BOMs made for my guild. We introduce 1 block a month but have the draws at our annual meeting in June so I have a little time to get the done but don't like them hanging over my head. I also need to get my guild Outreach (charity) quilt finished for our May meeting. Next fall marks my guild's 20th anniversary so we are having a very large quilt show in Oct so need to get some quilts finished for that as well. I have lots of tops to get sandwiched and quilted! I am tired already just thinking about this list! Mary...See MoreAre you quilting this weekend? June 16-17
Comments (8)Hello, all! I'm recovering from vacation w/the family and an exciting week at the beach...oldest was nipped by a baby shark. Nothing too serious & didn't require stitches, but exciting nonetheless. I managed to eke out a little sewing time by practicing the magic 8 HST method on some scrap fabric. Woo-hoo! Such an easier way to make HST's! (Thank you, Jennifer!!!) I cannot believe I have no proper blues in my stash for the June block. That will be remedied on Errand Day this week. I pulled some charms from my stash and put them up on the flannel board, so a Baby James quilt can be stitched soon. My other bit of sewing was a halter dress for my daughter and a skirt for me. Summer in the South requires quite a bit of ventilation. Dresses & skirts fit the bill. ;)...See MoreAre you quilting this weekend? Feb. 15-16
Comments (5)Hope all of you will be back to normal this week with lots of energy. I've been working on a top and I have one more column to piece and then I will decide if I want to make one more to make it bigger. The block is so simple it's laughable but when all the blocks are put together it's a pleasing design. It's called Indian Hatchet. There are a lot of different configurations to put the blocks together but I'm just going to make it simple and make them all go in the same direction. I'm doing it in all different colors with the central stripe in each block being a light gray. I need to try to stay on it because it's like Springtime here in Central Florida and the yard is calling, calling. Saw the first hummingbird yesterday on the honeysuckle arbor which is already blooming like crazy!...See MoreChar
