B.M. chantilly lace or S.W. reflective white for trim?
Comments (16)To help those in future searches.....we chose Sherwin Williams High Reflective White as our interior trim color. We are very happy with the choice, pops against the wall paint colors we chose (Crisp Linen, Natural Linen and Neutral Ground). It comes across as a "neutral white" to me. But it did cost us a few hundred more dollars than our original paint quote. Apparently this color only comes in some of SW paint grades so we had to upgrade to a different grade to get this color....See MoreBM Chantilly Lace or Decorators White?
Comments (2)As you know, whites all have different undertones. With good, warm light, I would choose Chantilly Lace with its blue undertone. Decorator’s white has a green undertone, which I would use in an east facing room....See MoreA paint color in between of BM Chantilly Lace and Simply White?
Comments (21)Okay that makes sense as I thought the one on the right looked like Simply in the top photo and I meant I prefer the cabinet on the left when shown with the countertop (second photo). Yes, colors like to trick us! I had a client facing an even bigger struggle, as her solar tubes cast a blue light on the upper cabinets, making them look completely different than the lowers. She agonized over it for months, using CL and SW (and even a couple of other whites) in different places in her home, depending on the lighting. While I usually use SW colors, I recently used CL in a bathroom in place of SW Extra White as the undertones worked better with an existing cabinet (IKEA). But it looks too bright (maybe because I, too, added a solar tube). I painted the new wainscoting and existing trim in CL, but forgot to paint the door so it is still EW. From this angle, EW actually looks better than CW with the IKEA cabinet. But here's where it gets even more strange: the upper cabinets got knicked during the project, so I ended up rolling on a couple of coats of CL. The counterop was also painted CL. The lower cabinets were not painted; yet, the uppers and lowers look like a match while the counter looks way off. By the way, these photos are taken in a windowless room with no lights on (just the solar tube providing light). So, while you're doing it right by checking the color in different locations and at different times of the day, etc., EVERY little thing can impact how you see the color. I think you will be happy with Simply White when it all comes together!...See MoreDoes anyone have S.W. Pure White walls with B.M. Chantilly Lace trim?
Comments (2)I don't have a photo of wall/trim to show you, just my opinion. 1. Always test it in your own house. Even if someone had a photo to show you, their lighting, their flooring, their furnishings will impact how the paint colors look. Color is relative and sometimes completely changed by light. 2. In theory, I think they would work together because there is enough contrast, but I don't think it would be my favorite pairing. Pure White may look gray (or possibly a little dirty) next to Chantilly Lace because Pure White is more "gray" or desaturated. In the comparison below, I think Pure White looks like a very pale gray. Maybe that's the look you want. 3. The "easiest" thing to do with a white is to paint everything the same color, but use different sheens. Say matte or eggshell on the walls and satin or semi-gloss on the trim. 4. If you haven't tested it in your home, get a Samplize sheet or a sample pot and paint the pure white on a large board and compare it to the Chantilly Lace on a piece of moulding. Then move it around the room/house to see how it works with flooring, countertops, anything that isn't going to move, and of course how your furnishings work with it....See Morem111675
