That particular bench is 30inches deep so I am guessing that it will be a bit more comfortable than most. If I decide to go that route then I will definitely go to the store and sit on it first. I am debating going with a bench for my living room in a ranch house. It is one of the options I am looking at for my living room which is very narrow (and which I have moaned about on the forum quite a few times). We have a couch, and I have been looking at love-seats, but most of them are just too wide. I am also looking at settees as an option, but can't seem to find a style that I think will look okay in the space. We currently have a tan colored leather couch that sits against a bay window which has woven blinds as the window covering. Since the space is small, I figured a bench would give additional seating that you can spread out on a bit, but not make the space look too cluttered.

Some of the indoor-outdoor rugs are woven. You'd have to be careful as you cut that the whole thing doesn't unravel, and you'd have to bind the cut edges with something to keep it all together. You'd still have to do something to the cut edges to keep the tufts in place and make the rug look the same on all the edges, but you wouldn't have the same unraveling problem. If a rug is just a foot or two too long, you can always just fold it under on one edge, the edge where it won't show as much.

I remember the last time this came up. The drama from some on either side of the issue. The ones who have special feet that need shoes on, etc. For me, i take my shoes off most of the time. I'm more comfortable that way, plus there's not the mess in inclement weather. I grew up not taking them off, short of boots, but as I've matured this habit has changed. I think the studying of the Japanese culture and traditions has made me change to a shoes off on entry. For a while, and still occasionally, I'll take off dirty/wet shoes and put on some boat shoes as my semi-indoor shoes, although I'll still wear them out to get mail or to step out for a breath of air or something as long as they're not getting dirty or wet. Plus with the medical issues the latter years, shoes aren't as wanted. When I go someplace I normally take them off especially in the winter but even in the summer as a courtesy to people who take pride in their homes and don't want dirty footprints on everything. I can't understand people who think they can slop through snow, slush, salt, mud and whatever else and then walk on peoples' carpets, wood steps and floors and be offended when people ask them to remove the slop. Maybe people should be washing their feet before entering others' homes. My sister's ex-boyfriend was one who refused to remove his shoes and he insisted on wearing waffle stompers on top of it. He was given the option, and not just at my place but others too, that he can remove his shoes and come in or keep his shoes on and stand in the genkan until he is slushless. People who can (and do) wipe their shoes can wear them AFAIC.

it means that the material is such it can be easily washed with water..like, even with a hose or something the feel/look close up might depend on a maker i guess. As with almost anything. I did purchase indoors/outdoors rug..from Ballards I think?..that looks pretty nice, and feels pretty nice. Not especially soft but not plastic-y either. I didn't start using it yet lol-because I like my floor's color..was supposed to go in the kitchen to protect the floor. But I'm not getting rid of it either. Will come handy. If you like it-I don't know what size you're looking for? Since mine is 3 by 5 I think, and if I'd have to return it would be less hassle, than in a case of a big rug. Now, for a bedroom one might want a softer rug-or not. You can try to order it in smallest size possible then decide whether you like the texture etc. If yes-order a pad for it..they're on a thinner side, you don't want your rug moving around too much in your bedroom. Also will give thicker feel.
