January Quilting/Sewing Goals
Comments (60)Woo Hoo....yesterday, after 3 attempts at sewing my first seam in almost 15 years and then finally getting it right, then sewing my next two seams on the incorrect sides of the pieces (I had to use a pin to pick it out because I don't know where my seam ripper from 15 years ago is), I finally got into a good rhythm and was able to finish up the inside 4 patches of a 9-patch block that is the first of two January birthday blocks. Then I made a mistake from misunderstanding a "how to" picture on a pattern. This required much more seam ripping than what I could do with a little pin and I decided to put it away until I was less frustrated and could go out and purchase an actual seam ripper. THEN...my eyes beheld a small tin of sewing supplies that I just inherited about 10 days ago from my grandmother. I wondered "Could there possibly be a seam ripper in it? Please, oh, please!" Tentatively, I looked through the tin.....YES! I hit pay dirt. I haven't felt so elated since....who even remembers when. So I ripped out the seam and tonight I WILL FINISH THIS BLOCK!!! Yahoo....one more block to go, then I have two February birthdays...whew. Salijo...See MoreAre you quilting this weekend? Jan. 24-26
Comments (20)Marji, A new home with a dedicated sewing studio! Lucky you!! Calliope, When I do a Depression Block, I like to have a distinct light and dark between the 2 sides. It seems to make the pattern 'pop' better. But, there are times a muted look is desired, too. Lois, Your turtles are so cute! And, they're green....watch out, Beverly might snag them. lol You're welcome, Bobby. Glad you like them and they are useful......I like that they're clear and I can see what's in them. :-) TG/Linda, Can't believe you're running out of things to work on. How about doing a reverse redwork project? Donna, It makes me so frustrated when something like that happens......don't want it to get the best of me and it looks like you're the same way. I. Will. Get. This. Right! lol I'm doing a grid on this quilt and using the blue painter's tape. It's working out pretty well. I just might be able to get it up there before the shower after all......maybe. :-) SharonG/FL...See MoreI'm getting tired of my stash
Comments (14)It's a sickness. When my sister was here recently, I opened up the closet and she said quite a few bad words in exclamation. But she doesn't quilt. And it doesn't dawn on her pea brain that every time she drops an "I need another quilt" hint that I can't afford to rush out to the LQS to buy expensive new fabric. That goes for all the others who think the same way. Why does a man have a garage full of tools and gadgets that he "might need someday"? Why does a foodie have a kitchen full of gadgets and pots and pans still in the boxes?? And yes, I have stuff that I look at and wonder "why??" but I'm not getting rid of it. When I was working it was nothing to go out every week and drag home 5 to 10 yards of fabric. Now that I'm not working I'm so glad I did....See MoreQuilt top for my cousin
