Mixing 'metals', doorknobs, bathroom hardware, etc!
Comments (3)I don't think so at all - you could definitely go with chrome in the bathroom. One resource I've used to see what may be considered 'acceptable' is the Houzz website. They've got thousands of remodel pictures, most of which were done by designers/architects - I have noticed that there are a lot of high end homes with ORB door knobs, but chrome in the bathrooms. Lots of postings also have pictures for other rooms, so you can see how they've carried out whole house remodels and what finishes they used throughout. Hope that helps - just my opinion! Comments (4)As I type this I'm pretty sure 10 folks will chime in and say\show they did it and it looks great (trust them not me as I'm going by my reaction not anything concrete). I think mixing finishes is not a problem and will look great ( I have seen many examples and plan to do it in my own remodel) but I'm not sure I would want to have a single chrome element and none anywhere else. Again that's not based on having actually seen it but is just a gut reaction. If you match the filter and the faucet it could be good and just pull in a chrome accessory or two....See MoreMixing metals: hardware, lighting and hood : Romy, Enza, others?
Comments (18)Actually, the faucet in the pic is one that the contractor loaned us until ours came in. I don't find it hard to keep clean at all. I just run the dish cloth over it once in a while. The brushed SS we had before was easier to keep clean, but that just means I never cleaned it - which is kind of gross. I love the finishes you've got going on so far and I'm the only one who objects to our shiny chrome faucet. Everyone else loves it. I think with yours, you'll have the shiny finish repeated so it will blend better - esp. if you go for one of those blingy hoods. So jealous!...See MoreHow to mix finishes - faucets, door hardware and cabinet hardware?
Comments (6)As with all good design, matching everything exactly isn’t the right call. You want your space to be curated and custom, and if you choose the same hardware throughout the house (especially in different rooms), your home will feel builder-grade and boring. Your hardware should be sisters, not twins—meaning sharing some similar elements but not the exact same. For example, if you have a more modern aesthetic, pick 2-3 hardware colors and choose all modern hardware. That way, the space will feel cohesive and custom without feeling boring. We have some ideas about hardware, fromour favorites to everything you need to know about hardware to what paint colors go best with what hardware. Good luck, and keep us posted on your progress!...See MoreCheryl Hannebauer
