What color painted baseboards with cherry laminate floors?
Comments (7)Pictures Requested Are Below krigg asked - I just saw your post. I am facing the same problems you did. We are putting in brazilian cherry floors and currently we have the dark wood trim, baseboards, etc of the 80's. I, too, am stressing about to paint everything or do a contrasting wood. What did you finally do? And, what did you do about your doors? Did you paint them or stain them? I would really like to see some pics if you've got them. I believe it would be a big help to me. I appreciate your time in responding. krigg - I still haven't painted my baseboards yet, but I did stain one of my wood doors with waterbased stain in Minwax Vermont Maple - which has the reddish tone of cherry. Since my doors are natural wood - I hated the idea of painting them - and the natural grain is so nice. I prepped the door with Minwax prestain wood conditioner. I did the interior closet door so it wouldn't show if I didn't like it. My reasoning for using the waterbased stain was - if I didn't like it - I could always paint over the waterbased stain easier than oil based stain. Also the fumes are negligible and easy clean up. The waterbased stain dries very quickly so working quickly is important. I used a brush to paint the stain on in small sections with the grain and then a stain pad to rub the excess off, and an old tee shirt to rub in the edges of the moulding and raised portions. With sections that are hard to reach I am using a very small artist's brush to apply the stain. The back of the closet door looks great - I am so happy I decided to use stain instead of painting the doors. Now I will stain all the rest of the doors. The stain color complements the cherry laminate floors. I noticed now that the stain has dried - it is lighter than when I was putting it on - I might put on another coat to darken it a bit. The picture of the unstained door doesn't show that it is quite a bit lighter. I am still going to put a sealer on the door when I get the color just right so it doesn't absorb dirt over time - not sure what to use for that - probably another waterbased product. I got another color for the moulding - Behr - Light Mocha, because the original color shown in the picture below - Olympic - Carmel Sugar, had a somewhat pink tone I didn't like. I will paint another sample to see how the Behr turns out. Comments (15)What if.... I looked at the stone-look vinyl in the store and while it's nice, it's just not what I want. There are other patterns online that the store didn't have though. But what if I did use the wood look vinyl, separated from the real wood floors by a couple of different colored wood transition strips? Oh & get this. We have boxes of old 8x8 tile in the garage, the white marbled stuff that we put down 15 years ago. I've been trying to figure out how to get rid of it, and mentioned putting it on craigslist today. Dh was shocked and thinks we are still going to use it. Um, no. I was thinking GIVE it away. On the FREE CL side. He was shocked, after we spent so much on it. Yes dear, 15 years ago when we were both 25 pounds lighter, everyone wore tracksuits everywhere, and the beastmobile was a gleaming new truck. No. No. No....See MoreRecommendations for waterproof vinyl click and lock flooring
Comments (7)Look into Coretec, Adura Max, Karndean, and Flooret for good quality click lock vinyl flooring. Unless you plan to self-install, I strongly recommend finding a local flooring company known for excellent quality and good installation. Take home samples and look at them in morning, afternoon, and evening light. Flooret does not sell to resellers, but they can probably recommend local installers. Weshipfloors.com has good prices on vinyl flooring, but I cannot recommend or not recommend as I have never purchased from them. They have a line of vinyl plank flooring called "Kryptonite," and it's pricing is very good. Here's a light colour somewhat similar to what you posted that is very pretty: http://www.weshipfloors.com/flooring/silver-tail-luxury-vinyl-plank-flooring-3mm-x-63-x-48-cork Flooret has beautiful colours: http://www.flooret.com/modin-vinyl-plank-flooring/ Adura Max by Mannington: https://www.mannington.com/Residential/AduraMax/Search I'm having 2700 sq. Ft. of Adura Max Dockside Sand installed in a few weeks. Will post photos if you haven't made a decision by then. Coretec Dakota Walnut was my second favourite colour. The sample I brought home was lighter than the website photo: http://www.usfloorsllc.com/flooring-products/dakota-walnut/ I'm running out of time so cannot post Karndean link. Hope this helps!...See MoreVinyl or laminate floor coloring with oak vanity
Comments (17)that's more taupe/gray. from the pic, I'd say no. this color is betterhttps://www.amazon.com/Achim-Home-Furnishings-VFP1-2GO10-Planks just saw this Aquaguard (water resistant LVP) from Floor/Decor, Calico, $2.99 sf) go with more of a neutral charcoal. and you really don't want a flooring w/movement, since your countertop is so busy. look for something in a large vinyl rectangle or hex in a solid color. that will be your best bet. like this you will have to bring home samples and take pics w/your lighting. any chance you can do tile? 10-14" tiles could be laid down over what you have...See Morerichfield95
