After-market custom panel kits for refrigerators?
Comments (4)Hello, I'm trying to get in touch with writersblock or thecabinetmaker. I've looked at the photos posted and wondered exactly how you screw the panel into the fridge. Please explain. If anyone can explain this I would be very greatful Thank you...See MoreCustom refrigerator panels - opions on best design?
Comments (10)Even tall pantry doors usually are broken up into two separate panels. You don't want doors over around 44" H if you can help it. The taller they are, the more chance is that they may eventually warp with the +/- of humidity. The more "traditional" break would be at 44" off the floor, followed by shorter panels above. That resembles the door arrangement of a pantry. That would be the first choice, but not the only one of course, You could break it up into a counter height, and then see what it would look like with the remainder broken up into the "stacked door" look of a panel the size of your space between counters and uppers, and the size of your uppers. You may decide to do only the 2 larger panels per door, but see how you feel about that vs. 6 panels first....See MoreShould custom refrigerator cabinets hide sides of refrigerator?
Comments (29)If that were my mistake, I'd pull the whole surround, add extra 3/4" pieces to the back edges (enough to move the cabinets far enough forward to cover the fridge sides), prime and paint to match, then re-install. You would have a barely noticeable seam 2"-3" from the wall, between the counter and upper cabinet, but wouldn't need to rebuild the whole structure. Add 2x4 ledgers to the studs to affix the upper cabinet....See MoreCustom refrigerator panels - cost more than appliance??
Comments (44)Just FYI if I remember correctly our panels for Monogram columns were about $500 each. My opinion on Monogram and Subzero... I have both (one in each residence). I got my Monogram columns on closeout so it was a great deal on a slightly inferior product. The Subzero is a bit better product and well worth a couple of thousand extra. It's just too bad I paid way more than a couple thousand extra. I jokingly, but also seriously, tell people that my Subzero is the best $10,000 I ever spent $16,000 on. Having said that Subzero would be my brand to beat, but it could be beat at the right price....See Moreakilakumar
