Browneyes - we've been looking at AKDO's Stagger in Parchment. Found here: http://www.akdo.com/products_detail_coll.asp?pid=4905&collid=108&subcollid= It's pretty much what we like, but the narrowest strip in AKDO's tile is a bit narrower than we hoped for. When I emailed Susan, I told her what we saw that we liked and what we were hoping to find that would be different from what we've seen. She seemed to feel that she could help. Right now, on Susan's site, she is featuring a "We have curved milk glass tile, as seen on Houzz" photo, so hopefully there's a good chance you'll have some luck with her. I used the email found on her site here: http://www.susanjablon.com/contacts It's: Customer.Service@SusanJablon.com I got some samples from Glass Tile Oasis and while they were fine, I wasn't finding anything that was quite right for us...may search there a little more if Susan doesn't work out.

It would be best to use contact cement. When you tried to do this, did you: 1: clean the two surfaces with a solvent like acetone before attempting the repair? 2. keep the two surfaces separated long enough after re-coating both (10-20 minutes) before reattaching? 3. use a laminate roller after pressing the surfaces together? I have also found that an iron set at low-to-moderate heat, and with a protective piece of paper between the iron and the laminate, can help activate the contact cement if it's not quite secure. You have to be careful, though, as too much heat can damage the laminate. It is also useful after doing this to immediately put a heavy weight on top of the laminate, or clamp it for a while.

Thank you for those great resources, Amal. What really sparked this was I received my color samples from Villa Lagoon Tile, and I was less than overjoyed with the Maple Sugar. (However, the folks at VLT are *so nice* -- eight years ago when we used their patchwork quilt tiles for the floor of my son's personal care room Lundy, the now-retired owner, was just a dream to work with. I admit I have warm fuzzy feelings about wanting to work again with them.) Granada Tiles offer lots of yellow color choices (others as well, but I am after yellow), so I may purchase their sample kit. At play there is GT charges a 30% fee for custom colorways, and based on my loving-hands-at-home calculations, I'm looking at that 30% adding an additional >US$3,000. It may come down to my deciding that Yes, getting what I want is worth it or No, it's not. I'm not there yet. I suspect the other costs will ultimately also factor into my decision .... I did go ahead and order the Gold and White color samples from The Cement Tile Shop, so we'll see how they look in real life. We'll be gutting our master bath to accommodate a curbless (roll-in) shower so we (my children's father and I) can more safely bathe our youngest child, who is multiply and profoundly disabled and unable to assist / participate in his own ADLs (Activities of Daily Living, like bathing). As of now we lift him in and out of the tub, but sooner rather than later someone will get hurt, and that is just not a goal of ours! I found a reclining shower chair about which I am *very* excited -- not pretty but wow will it be functional. Thank you people who think of, design and produce these adaptive pieces! I want to also add the plumbing specialist with whom I've been working has been an absolute dream. She has steered me to Keuco for the shower rail because it is also a grab bar -- two in one -- as well as appropriate hand showers (big but not huge) with extra long and smooth hoses, so no hair or skin can get pinched in between the coils. The pretty will come in with the yellow + white tiles -- very chipper. I am anticipating a bright white space with the tiles on the floor and leading up at least one wall of the shower, maybe three if that won't prove overkill ... can't figure that bit out. My partner weighed in that he'd like it to have the flavor of an updated crumbly + ornamental Recoleta apartment, and I can definitely get behind that. Hello Round Top! Anyway, so it's fun planning, and I am enjoying being very thorough with the planning so we make the best, most Accessible, safest space for all of us. But of course most of all for our sweet son.

And just to be a bit of a stick in the mud, I've seen sheet vinyl products from the 80's that had a pattern JUST LIKE THIS one. Of course if money is no object, you can get your OWN pattern going by installing a mosaic-like floor. You would purchase several different types of tiles and have the installer (who is HANDSOMELY rewarded) put them in like your inspiration photo. This type of install would be CHEAPER than a special order (special orders require minimum square footages...like 300 - 1000sf of product) but not as 'cheap' as a cement tile install. Personally I would take your inspiration photo to a professional tile show room and ask them to use their computer software to recreate this look using multiple tiles. Then purchase the product needed to create this and then hire the BEST INSTALLER your money can buy. The money you SAVE on a special order will be SPENT on your installer (quality of labour). A GREAT installer will have a wait list of a few months. That's a GOOD sign. Make sure you get their input before doing ANYTHING beyond the design stage.
