So far the plants do have some resemblance to maple seedlings. However it seems odd for dried maple seeds to germinate after only two weeks of cold treatment. And you'll have to wait until the seedlings start producing recognizable leaves to be able to tell for sure what they are anyway.

Thanks. I soaked the seeds for two weeks and stored them in a plastic bag in the fridge from early december to now. They started to germinate a couple weeks ago.

I think once maple seeds dry out and harden on the outside they typically need quite long periods of cold treatment to overcome dormancy. The embryo needs to be convinced an entire winter has come and gone before it will sprout.

Including a small recognizable object, like a penny, next to your seeds, gives a size comparison and helps to identify. I almost thought they were Acer ginnala (Amur maple) at first.

But I agree they do look like Acer saccharum but remember, seeds from a grafted cultivar Sugar maple have similar looking seeds but may give you the parent rootstock tree instead of the cultivar.

Even better to include a ruler, or a universal object like a ball point pen. We don't all immediately know the size of US coins.
