Comments (4)Thank you both! I would like to place the desk in the center of the room. The extra desk space would be for a second person, i.e. my spouse to use if we were in the room at the same time, or at least that is what we were thinking. I love the idea of built-ins. That would probably provide a very seamless feel to the whole thing. This space would be around the perimeter of the room. The room is around 13' x 14' maybe. It is a bedroom sized room with a double window. It has a closet, so we can store supplies in there. The extra space would be mostly for workspace and maybe some immediate storage for a few items. We can always use bookshelves too. Love the inspiration pictures. Something like those built-ins but with flat workspace instead of drawers and shelving could work. Do you think cream like the desk or a wood tone like the top of the desk? I am leaning toward cream. I am completely open on wall color, draperies, lighting, etc. The only thing that is for certain is the beautiful desk I posted. Comments (8)Thanks everyone for the suggestions! Yup I used 2 coats of shellac primer on the knots, then about 3 coats on the paneling. Glossy ceiling has been painted with a flat ceiling paint and the boob light is definitely going ! Being replaced with a contemporary white fan. I will rethink white for the walls, I like the photos above and can see that with the right furnishings and decor it doesn’t have to look like a shabby chic beach cottage....See MoreHOME OFFICE EMERGENCY: DESK AND WALL COLOR CLASHING :(
Comments (2)what temp bulbs do you have above? first see if 4000K bulbs makes a diff. I don't think it's the wall color, I think it's just the color of the desk. It's ivory. so get your stuff set up on it, add some green plants, and art above the desk. see how it looks...See MoreDecorating a home office with beige carpet, bamboo desk and red chair
Comments (11)@JustMe Here is a rough drawing with dimensions of the office. My desk is on the longest wall. The window at the bottom of the drawing. My desk is about 72" and I've been seriously thinking of getting a different wood desk top that is smaller at about 63" to fit on that wall space next to the door. Something like a mesquite desktop or something. My desk is a standing desk so I'll be keeping the black base. The reason why I didn't put my desk against the window is mainly because of the giant monitor that is on an arm that wouldn't let me look outside anyways but I'm open to options. I do really think that my desk is way to big though. Also, the closet(which is at the bottom left of the picture in case its hard to tell has built in bookshelves. Although shelve space is always good, I've been looking at tons of wall shelves to utilize the vertical space more. I also added some more offices I liked to my profile. I'm a big fan of the contrasting natural colors and I want to incorporate live plants and such as well....See MorePatricia Colwell Consulting
