all kitchen appliances input wanted
Comments (44)Indeed weissman, that's all. However, some choose to take it otherwise. Dealers are trusted for selling and marketing. Caveat emptor. There is a huge range of opinion in the industry as well as a huge range of advice on this forum in many areas. For me, that's its strength. Some of us know and trust more than than one dealer and have access to more than one opinion. Dealers have different opinions. Not everyone agrees on brands, except mostly about Wolf and SZ. And, of course, they tend to like and believe in what they can sell. DUH. That said, everyone hopes to find a great, affordable range that really does it for those who want high output open burners. If the Culinarian turns out to be all it's said to be that's terrific. However, that doesn't negate the value of sealed burner ranges or make them inferior as is often stated here. It depends on the design and personal preference. Let's not forget that Surgit Kalsi, who now makes Capital ranges, made DCS ranges -- famous for excellent sealer burners -- which were very highly regarded throughout the entire industry. I believe several people on this forum still have DCS ranges and adore them. It depends on what someone wants and hopefully there will be independent thought and close examination -- as amcook did. We're not smurfs. Some of us like to see it before we believe it. That's not hatoraid. It's common sense....See MoreCompleted Kitchen--Finally, after 3 years! (Many Photos)
Comments (73)Hi Michellemarie: Thanks for the tip on the soot issue. We had some trouble getting a specialist to install in that area, so the guy who installed maybe got the logs a little bit off when positioning? When we first installed, the flames did not show up as well as the showroom model did. I asked about the log placement then, and he told me there was only one way to install the logs. After some use, I began noticing the soot--but the flame, for some reason, looks much better. (Maybe DH got in there and moved the logs....I'll have to ask him about that.) I will be going into the showroom where we bought the unit, as the switch which controls the blower has not been working, and I have to pick up a new one of those, so I will see what I can learn then about the log placement. Guess I can show them that picture. The "local" vendor (which is on the mainland) told me they use a generalist from another island to service those units, so I was not sure he would be any more knowledgeable than my install guy was. I'm so glad you mentioned the soot though, because I did not know anything about the log placement, only that the flame seemed not right to begin with, and then the soot appeared. Now I know there is an issue for sure...so at least I can have some confidence when I talk to the folks who sold me the unit. Despite these installation/adjustment issues, we really love that fireplace though! (Makes me want one in every room each time I walk past it). Thanks so much for the help!...See MoreCascade Platinum Dishwasher pods
Comments (110)Did my first load with the Cascade Platinum...in the prewash I added just a T. Of Korex powder which is a cheap doesn't work worth crap detergent, but I like something in the prewash...in the main dispenser I used 2 CP pacs..my machine uses too much water to use just one. I did NOT use STPP because I wanted to see how these would preform for me without help. It was by no stretch a bob load but still full enough. There were plates with dried on cheese from mac and cheese, a few plates with some rice grains, and a glass pot that I boiled chicken in for the dog...my stainless range top covers and one 9×13 stainless cake pan with the oil and flour residue from baking a cake. .everything else was just normal soil levels, drinking glasses, coffee mugs, stainless flatware ect...I will say the few pieces of stainless was clean shiney and polished, very nice, everything else was clean, but I did find some kibbles on top of a coffee mug, and one spoon with something stuck to it. I had one plastic container that housed sloppy joe that was remarkably so spotless it looked new. All in all I'd say the CP worked well, but I didn't have perfection. Next load I will use one pod and add phosphates and see how that does....See MoreWant to ditch my FL for a Speed Queen
Comments (45)My FL that I ditched was a Duet made for Sears. The manuals were Duet. Mine did have a 2 hour sanitizing setting that I did use routinely. 2 hours to wash kitchen towels with not enough water - hot or not, never got them stain free and did not get the washer clean. And if you left the load in the washer with the door closed for anytime at all -- stinky!! And a rewash. My manual said to check under the rubber ring if you washed small items. I hated that washer!!! I think I hate it more now that it is gone! :) I'm sure there are great FL's made. I have a Miele vacuum I love, but it was very expensive. I never looked at the Miele washers. I admit, when I finally decided to get rid of the FL, I did not shop for anything other than the Speed Queen thanks to the information shared on this forum over the years. I was delighted to find a local dealer who also does their own service. I have followed pinky's "adventures", and still bought a Speed Queen. I am hoping for a positive outcome for you. I am watching out for any signs of a problem-so far none. I did buy the AWNE92 - electronic controls - the longer warranty sold me, as I intended to get the manual controls. It does have hot wash, but my hot water out of the bathroom faucet measures 130. I'm going to measure the hot wash next time. I did measure the 'cool' wash - it was 62 and it felt warmish to me, so that is the cycle I am going to try for our clothes. I think washing and rinsing in cold water causes wrinkles.....but that could have just been the FL. I am re learning how to do laundry. At least it is fast and I can open the lid and watch! My FL had a dark smoked lid and I could not see anything inside even shining a flashlight thru it. Jayme - still no regrets ditching the FL! In fact I feel stupid putting up with it for so long....See Morelinus2003
