Groundhog Day or Is There Really Such A Thing as Spring, Virginia
Comments (11)Believe it or not, we DO get frost here in the little corner of Paradise called east Central Florida. I've been battlin' spider mites, drought...you name it...have several cuttings from Karyn that are doing well, plus three cuttings that I took from my own NOIDS (aka Christine, Breezy and Debby...my own names!)...today I repotted the three...hoping to salvage the plant from all the ravages. Spring WILL be coming! Honest! I've been seeing robins (they're still discussing going back north...) and was a beautiful day here. ...realize that we do have more chilly weather to come, but the 'itch' for the digging has arrived.....it tends to travel north at warp speed in the months of February and March....think about sticking seeds into pots...you'll have the jump start on tucking them into the ground right after mother's day! :) (Just think....all of those northern gardens just burst with color and bloom when the weather warms! There's nothing quite like watching the crocus and daffies give way to lilacs and peonies.....something that we don't get to see here in the Sunny South.......) and the snow? Well...it just gives you and extra punch of nitrogen, yes????? Anyone want to send my pussy willows???????? *smile*...See MoreHappy Groundhog Day, Gardeners!
Comments (1)Gosh durn that groundhog... I'm not surprised either! Just as long as we don't have another ice storm, I'll be fine. Hubby reminded me yesterday that last year we had a little ice storm in late Feb last year... ugh. We've gotten the branches from the front part of the house, now we have to do the back. I've gotten about six gallons of pecans off the ground too! My tree is strange, it doesn't drop all of it's pecans... I normally throw a broom up into the branches to knock them down... LOL! There's still more to pick up, more to clean up... Still saying a prayer for all those without power. My family all have electricity now, thank goodness! Here's yet another pic! This is one of my rosebushes... you can really see the amount of ice by this picture... Have a good week, everyone! (And Dawn!) Beth Here is a link that might be useful:...See MoreGroundhog Day
Comments (20)Here in Canada we have the Weather Network and in the US you have the Weather Channel. I used to watch the American Weather Channel all the time with the American bootlegged Direct TV , they make weather exciting at least on the weather channel they change the background music every couple of months for the forecasts. On our weather network they have had the same theme for 2 or more years. The Canadian weather Network is so boring. You Americans are lucky to have such a good weather channel even if there forecasts are out of wack .If you had our Weather Network for a week you would be begging for your channel back..lol. When you guys have Tornadoes they bring out the Tornado Expert , Dr. so and so or the Hurricane Dr. I especially miss the weekly planner. It must be hard to give a perfect forecast for the whole country - Just wondering what your favourite American weather service is, I would Imagine it is probably NOAA but I know there is Intellicast and Accuweather and probably others...See MoreIt's Groundhog Day...again
Comments (29)Thanks for explaining. That helps put it in better perspective. I'm surely no authority on marriage having been married more than once myself. Keeping in mind this is just MY own experience. When I started a relationship with someone who was a good fit at the time AND there was also a lot of physical attraction, when we hit the dry or rough spots (as is the case in all relationships), we always got through it stronger. When I had married a good guy who in hindsight was more a pal than soulmate, it didn't last. Whatever passion was lacking also extended to our non romantic interactions (trying to be delicate!). I tried to break off the engagement because I felt I was settling, but he pleaded and I was very young. Ironically, he ended up wanting that "you light up my life" relationship and asked for a divorce. At this point I guess you just need to develop some more outside interests? DH and I too have a lot of time together, but honestly we are really used to that. We commuted and worked together for years so we are really good at yours, mine and ours time. Sometimes I will just go out for the day. Hit the library and read all the magazines, have lunch alone or even a movie (fortunately I like my own company), power walk the mall when it's too hot outside. Just fake it til you make it if you aren't interested in joining any clubs or doing volunteer work. Is your daughter nearby? Mine lives far away but even before she had kids, I'd take off on my own for a few days and go visit. Even if she's at school or at work, there's exploring to very done. I wish you the best!!!...See Morelindaohnowga
