At daggers drawn over Kitchen and laundry - Clutter vs Spacy

Hi All

I have been building my house for some years and have worked with a number of different architects however the kitchen & laundry design has a number of challenges too many windows & doors & high ceilings . I am now trying to use the existing floor plan for a 10 x 10 kitchen and would like to know if this is the best design.

My challenge is :-

  • I do not like the door going to the living room from the laundry but want to be able to get the laundry from inside the house
  • My partner thinks a dry wall going all the way up to our cathedral ceiling (32 degree roof, elevation of 10 ft to roof belt) is an eye sore. It dissects the room's view when you are at the other end looking into the kitchen (a box within a room he says and makes a face)
  • I am not confident that there is enough space for 2 people to cook comfortably

I originally asked for the follows

Kitchen

  1. Sink
  2. Stove
  3. Oven
  4. Fridge
  5. Coffee Bar
  6. Breakfast nook
  7. Bay window
  8. Upper and lower cabinets

Laundry

  1. Sink
  2. Washing Machine
  3. Mud area (shoes etc)
  4. Storage

Can anyone help me with some ideas for a layout that makes this work ? Or am i short sighted ?
