Living with this floor plan
Comments (28)@ ykindschi Until this morning I would have said that was not possible. My husband parks on that side of the garage because his car is smaller and my minivan won't fit. If we extend the platform a bit and add walls, it will be a tight squeeze for my car. That said, I rearranged some junk in the garage today and I can juuuust barely squeeze in with my minivan and close the garage door if I need to. I'd have to really plan on the space to see if I could fit cubbies in there, and also figure out how to heat it. The garage gets so cold in the winter here that no one would stop to take boots off unless it was more comfortable. But it's a possibility....See Morewindow dilemma - mudroom new built
Comments (8)Is the window located to the left because of the exterior? If it is in the middle of the room, how does that affect the exterior? If the exterior calls for the window to be where shown, then the door serves as a good privacy screen: it will typically be open when you area engaging around in there. As far as the interior goes, in the middle would be nice so the open door doesn't block the light. If you are concerned about overly-nosy neighbors, who would have to make a real effort to see into the mudroom, frost the glass....See MoreMudroom Cabinetry—Iron Ore?
Comments (11)Personal opinion only but I prefer Clary Sage over Unusual Gray. Except it looks like CS has a lot of yellow in it (in some pix). I like sages that lean blue. How does the graphite gray work w/ CS? Think I would prefer white appliances with it if you don't already own the W&D... Unsolicited opinion but....Honestly, w/ 5 small kids, I would go with natural wood/ lightly stained wood cabinets, not painted ones. Least ways, I would given what my kids were like. :-) (There is a very good chance that your kids are a tamer/ more tame-able breed of animal.)...See MoreMatching cabinets or different in kitchen, butler's pantry, mudroom?
Comments (41)This is where personal preference becomes a significant decision-maker. If you want a very neutral backdrop for your home, opt for matching mudroom and butler pantry cabinetry. However, we are seeing more and more color and contrast in recent design trends, so if you have any inclination towards a bolder pallet, mudrooms and butler pantries are great places to try that out. Because they are relatively out of site, you can play around with color or boldness in a way you may not want to in your kitchen. We’ve designed mudrooms and butler pantries that stand out as their own spaces because they have a complimentary (but not the exact same) color palette as the rest of the home. Here are some examples:...See Morezaccaii
