White cabinets - shaker or raised panel
Comments (6)Both will be dated at some point, so it's really almost become something nonsensical to worry about. People have asked the same about Shaker cabinets, but in the, what? 100 years since they were originally introduced by their creators? Have they disappeared? People who enjoy a more formal kitchen will continue to choose raised cabinets doors. They're shadow effects are beautiful and will continue to be lovely. IMHO, it's the white that carries this in some way. Not that wood cabinets aren't gorgeous, but the white keeps things fresh for me. just a thought....See MoreSingle Slab in Raised panel inset cabinets
Comments (0)Our current design has one 6 inch cabinet as a slab panel (with our beaded inset) and the rest are raised panel- my DH is having a fit but I'm not sure if this is a big deal. Does anyone have any pictures of what a single small slab panel among beaded insets would look like? They only make slab for 6 inch cabinets....See MoreShiloh inset cabinets (raised panel)
Comments (3)We did Shiloh inset cabinets, but not raised panel, sorry. We did white painted maple, as well as espresso stained maple. Love them so far 1 year later. Do a search on the bottom of the page, there have been several posts from Shiloh people and I think most if not all of them are very positive. Best of luck with your decision!...See Moreare raised panel kitchen cabinets totally dated?
Comments (8)I’m installing solid wood (cherry) raised panel cabinets. Base cabinets are medium brown and upper cabinets are hand-painted cream white. They were more expensive than trendy recessed panel doors. But I wanted solid wood doors. I studied cabinets for several months before making the final decision. Previously I owned recessed panel cabinets (maple and cherry) for two decades. Recessed panels do collect dust too. While I was happy with the appearance of my recessed cabinets, I found the center panels too vulnerable. They are fine for drawers, but raised panel feel better for door panels. Many raised panel doors have chipboard center covered with thin veneers. You need to consult somebody who knows wood products well if you want to go for the quality. It’s true that very few raised-panel doors are frameless. I didn’t have many door style choices because I chose Euro-style frameless. The ones in your photo look beautiful! Currently I am doing research on cabinet hardware that can help my new cabinets look timeless. You should design your kitchen based on what’s important for you and not by the trend unless you are selling your house in the next few years. For me, it was to have nature elements – I wanted to use solid wood and natural stone in my kitchen as much as possible....See More- 5 years ago
