Those of us on this site are NOT the norm. I grew up with parents that constantly maintained their home. No painted surface ever got to the point were it looked old and worn. At the other end of the spectrum, my DH grew up with parents that only replaced things once they looked like crap or were broken. They had the money, just didn't see the need to spend it until absolutely necessary. I see small and large homes that are immaculately kept and other that are neglected. It has nothing to do with the size or cost of the home, but everything to do with the priorities of the homeowners. Edited to add, that postponing the regular maintenance of a home always ends up costing you more, so it isn't just about not spending the money, the person just doesn't see that they are being shortsighted and that the repairs/maintenance will cost twice as much when they finally get to it. One thing that jumped out at me ... in the photo were you have the 3 paintings lined up on the floor ... you need to paint that vent the same color as the walls. The vent just ruins the pretty green wall. Pretty easy to do yourselves. The True Value hardware stores near us will place any paint color into a spray can. That is the easiest way, several light spray coats to cover. I've also done it with a paint brush, you just have to do several thin coats . I have several vents I have to do myself. I even had the colors placed in the spray cans, but haven't gotten to it yet!

It looks good. When you get ready to hang it, try rotating your chairs so they move 1/8 way around the table. That way, the backs of the chairs won't be flat against the walls and won't interfere with the frame of the painting. Otherwise, you may have to hang it too high to clear the chairs.

Final Result. Five feet off the ground. I liked ilikefriday's idea of moving it to the right, but due to the small wall space, I think I will just relocate the bookcase instead. Thanks to everyone for your advice and suggestions!
