Tall 24" sink base cabinet?
Comments (7)Taylor, thanks so much. Now that you described that I can see some of the examples online have the higher toekick. That's probably what we'll do instead of spending the extra for a custom made cabinet. Joseph, are you talking about the countertop? If so, yes, that's our next conondrum. My husband and I were talking about it this morning and he thinks finding a stone piece deep enough to cover the W/D and cabinet will be tough without having it custom cut. I'm wondering if the seamless counter isn't the best idea. Since we're going with a smaller sink and base, I thought the seamless counter would give us the illusion of a larger space...and more counter area. If you were referring to the counter, do you have any other material ideas besides wood and stone? I don't think wood is a good idea on top of the washer and dryer as I tend to lay out wet clothes there and don't want to warp the wood over time. Thanks....See MoreAnyone seen or did/had done a 24" wall cabinet with a bump out an up?
Comments (28)You may not like piano hinged cabinets, for whatever reason, but the fact of the matter is that they remain the most popular corner choice for a reason. They provide the best access to the most usable amount of corner storage that your kitchen can have. A single 36'' super susan can hold an entire pot and pan collection, and you can get even the big stockpot in and out. Or it can hold a small applince addict's blender, crockpot, griddle, rice cooker, backup coffee maker, Foreman grill, food processor, and still have room to spare. For an upper, a digonal corner cabinet has a relatively small door compared to the internal volume that it contains. It can hold a lot of medium sized objects, but they are more difficult tl get in and out. The L shaped corner with the double hinged door provides full access to every bit of the room, and you can put objects as deep as the entire shelf into the cabinet and still easily get them in and out without twisting them on their sides to fit through the door. Examine your ''dislike'' and get over it if you want the most function from your kitchen....See MoreThermador downdraft with cooktop -- install into 24" deep cabinet?
Comments (2)Are there special circumstances, like an obstacle that needs to be built around, or perhaps an island installation? If so, that could explain the cabinet designers' increased depth measurements. I have a Thermador drop-in range with the pop-up downdraft installed in an island. The actual cabinet depth is 24 3/4" (28" countertop depth minus the 1 5/8" front and rear countertop overhangs and 3/4" front and rear fluted pilaster trim pieces). And just so you know, the only reason the island's measurements are what they are is we wanted to keep to the exact footprint of the original island (which housed a Jenn-Air cooktop and downdraft) so we wouldn't have to redo the wood flooring! Like @cookncarpenter, I'd say the installation documentation is correct, but if these are truly professional designers, I'm sure there's a legit method to their madness. Just ask them to explain why their measurements differ from the manufacturer's; they should be happy to explain it!...See MoreHas anyone used this IKEA wall cabinet?
Comments (3)I don't think 3 drawers in a 15 inch wall cabinet will solve your problem, as you still won't have matching heights. I think the most inconspicuous option is the third one - to put the 80 inch pantry on a 6 inch base and then cover the gap with filler. There is no adjacent toekick so you won't even notice the difference....See Morelive_wire_oak
