Contemporary doors
Comments (0)We are looking for some door company in the US who sells doors with a contemporary style. We've already looked at ETO doors, and places like that, but we are wondering if there is maybe a manufacturer who makes fiberglass doors with that style? or can custom make them? Here are two images of what we are sort of looking for: Thanks, --Carlos...See MoreCustom Height Patio/French doors
Comments (3)Thanks for the info Michael and Mhays21. The only Park Vue dealers in NY are downstate, too far away from me, so now I am seriously considering Precision Entry. Yes, Mhays21, I do expect to pay a little $, I had to do the same with my vinyl windows when I wanted green and not the standard white or beige. Updating my 1950 home has not been cheap! The company that replaced my windows also carries Precision Entry doors so I will have to give them a call. Thanks again! Comments (10)I'm sure they were low end since they were both purchased from Home Depot when we were new homeowners and didn't know any better. Anyway I did a search for peeling satin nickel finish and most search results were for problems with Schlage. I couldn't find any such complaints for Emtek or Baldwin so those look like good recommendations. Thanks for the help....See MoreDoor fix ideas
Comments (12)There are two kinds of prehung doors, models without trim and models with trim(called Split jamb). There are many video's on the process on You Tube. Be careful, some are not very good. Minimum required tools for installing a prehung door: Prybar -- Best kind is a flat bar Hammer -- Smooth face claw type Level -- The longer the better. I have several different lengths, but the one I used for installing doors is 6' long. I have a 4', a 2', one 18" long, and several smaller combination types. Any of those are better than a piece of string with a rock(which is better than nothing). Drill -- Cordless is easiest. Corded will work. Caulk gun(for exterior doors) Nail set -- if nails are used for the install Materials needed: Door assembly Threshhold sealer --For exterior doors Finish screws or finish nails(3" long) -- You can usually get these are a hardware or home improvement store. Screws are easier to use than nails. Shims -- wooden shims for plumbing the door frame in the rough opening. Also available at hardware/HI stores. Smaller finish nails -- For installing trim(if necessary). Caulk -- Paintable(used if painting the frame/trim)colored(for after the assembly is stained....See MoreRelated Professionals
