Do you want to crawl up there every time? Your bed is right up against that wall, so how do you plan to reach your things? what is the height? if find some low, two and 3 shelf bookcases/shoe shelves to put items in small containers. Or I'd get some crate type storage, put is on wheels with a rope so you can pull the storage to you. If you don't care what ut looks like, I'd get sone storage totes on wheels. Just to make it easier to maneuver your things.

Hello Nicole, You have so many wonderful suggestions to choose from. The IKEA one is right on. They are Scandinavian indeed. A blank canvas can be daunting but also a lot of fun because you can do anything you like. Here are our questions: How many people will be using the room daily? How many guests will you want to accommodate? Can you give us measurements of the room? You can just draw them out on a piece of paper and post it. That usually works. II like the desk entirely hidden behind that wall, but this is better for Zoom calls. You need to be facing a window for the natural light to be on your face. You can use a ring light on cloudy/rainy days but if it is sunny, use the natural light. That also leaves the wall to your left for a new office storage piece like a credenza or file cabinet. If the glare from those windows bothers you when working, get some custom bamboo shades at Lowe's in a shade that picks up the caramel color in the rug. A new ceiling lamp and a brass floor lamp for the corner by the sofa will look great.Move the round brass table to the entry side of the sofa for a bit of bling to be seen as one comes into the space. Also add a lamp to your desk. Try not to use the ceiling light, for a warm and cozy feeling. Ceiling lights are great for seeing how to clean the space, but they do not enhance the ambiance unless they are interesting to look at. And speaking of visual interest, the map isn't that. If you need it for your work tasks, move it close to the desk. I would be something fun and colorful to hang 5" above the sofa. Don't forget a trash basked if you don't have a shredder.

@George S what do you need in your home? Storage space? Yoga space? Playroom? Kid camp-in place? What don't you have enough of in the rest of the house? Also, what are the environmental conditions there? Is the space heated, cooled, ventilated? Looks like there's a little heater in there? Can an adult stand up in the middle? Can a rowing machine for lengthwise? What are the key dimensions? Personally, I'd love to have storage space, because I have none…no basement, no article, and dinky closets. But you may already have more than you need. I have grown kids, and even my grandkids wouldn't be interested anymore. I would love exercise space but only if it's air-conditioned and ventilated.  For storage, you could put big things along the low walls or you could install shelving there and still have a little stool to sit on in the middle while you sort or search. I'm guessing this is a house new to you, and the previous occupants had kids? Or is this your kids' artwork?
