That's a charming foyer. I can only add that I'm on my 3rd house with a door like that and I still haven't come up with a great solution. I've had a semi-striped sheer panel, a cotton voile panel, and a previous owner had a lace panel. The lace was frumpy. The sheer and voile were ok, but I would take them off in the summertime because privacy isn't an issue then since it's light outside so late (by the time it gets dark we have migrated upstairs). Love the extra light you get with no covering. I have left it coverless in the wintertime too and just ignored it. No one could see anything substantial inside, just the hall, but I don't particularly like the look of uncovered windows from INSIDE at night. I thought about a woven wood shade but I know I would never open and close it regularly so we would be relegated to constant darkness with it down, or it would remain up (and in that case, what's the point?). Chispa-I did look on Houzz, but I didn't see that particular photo for some reason. Thanks for posting it. I showed it to the cabinet maker, so we will see. I am not crazy about the slat doors, although I realize they are necessary for venting purposes. Hartwood, Fori, Maggie-I think I am going to end up with them sidexside under counter. I'm not sure if I'm going to have pocket doors built for them, since I suspect they will be left open most of the time anyway. Mags438-What E'Lux set are you considering? I went to Best Buy yesterday and they all seemed to be the same depth, although I did not have a measuring tape with me. The shallower depth would be wonderful, since I have to buy an extra deep counter. I'm planning on doing walnut, I think. So here is the rendering I did of the sxs next to a storage closet. Sorry it looks like it was done by a 7 year old, my PS skills are about at that level. There is a fireplace on that brick wall, I just couldn't find an internet photo similar.

Depends on your budget... if you don’t want to spend a lot - choose regular wood door and hang them as bi-fold. if you want something nice and durable ask for custom modern doors. Here are photos what we made for laundry closet in comparable sizes as yours. I do not say that this frosted glass design will work good for your classic kitchen interior, but just the idea. Instead of glass you can choose says laminate panels that are similar to your kitchen cabinets.

Decluttering before decorating is a good mantra to have. Looks as if you have multiples of the same washing products, so downsize those. Why do you need so many kinds of detergents? Stick with a few basics like original Tide, Woolite Dark, and Woolite for Delicates. Your brands may vary but you only need three. Don't use fabric softeners. Buy the biggest sized detergents that fit into cabinets. Keep the desktop clear to use for folding laundry into your basket inside kneehole of the desk. --People are always selling or offering for free old kitchen cabinets. Buy some uppers and hang them across the left side of the wall. Paint them and existing cabinets a pretty color like blue with pretty hardware. Keep ALL your cleaning products in the cabinets at ALL times. --Hang a shower or curtain rod on curtain rod holders to hang laundry. Run the rod from the newly painted cabinets to the end the left wall --Make/buy a curtain to hang on a curtain rod to cover the space where your laundry basket is. --Paint the floor if it's grungy or add a colorful indoor-outdoor rug to cheer things up.
