Non tile shower inserts? Any good products?

As the title says I am looking for an acrylic or other material shower insert to replace an existing tub/shower combo. A tile shower would not be expected in this house and is not wanted for upkeep reasons.

So what ones have you used that have held up and looked nice? DIY friendly would be a bonus!

I know that some in the Smaller Homes forum have done some acrylic inserts/walls. Here, we don't see that so much, but there are some who do Swanstone/Corian/Kohler Choreograph/Transolid shower or bath walls. Some like the Marbelite or Onyx Collection enclosures, too. If you don't get a better answer here, try Smaller Homes.

Unfortunately the options you mentioned are all at least 2 k. Not sure she has the budget for that!

Ordered Daltile Navelli in Carerra Star and it was completely different from the sample. Sample had nice glaze, beautiful lustre and grey beige color and matched my cabinets. The stuff I got was dull and matte, absolutely no glaze and flat grey. Very thin and made in China (unlike sample). Any idea what I can substitute? I have boxes of this jumk in my carport. What's the quality controll like at Daltile? I'm afraid to order from them again.

My mom is in assisted living now. But when she was at home we gutted her bathroom. We removed her 5 ft tub and replaced the base with a Kohler cast iron base. It fit right into the space. Then we lined the walls of the shower with cultured granite. It looked a little better than the cultured marble. it was fairly economical if I remember right. Tile vs. floor insert in shower

We got a corian shower pan and have tiled walls. The corian matches our floor tile- kind of a warm cement gray. Some people might not like it, but I really do, and I think the color match keeps it from looking like we cheaped out. So easy to clean and such a nice feel on the feet too. Oh, and because we had to get a custom pan, it was more expensive than a tile shower floor.

Look into Maax, EL Mustee or Sterling. Find the fibergalss units that are stud install. Better quality than glue up walls and much easier to install.

Thanks for the feedback. Heard from our Lowes that Maax was less than helpful with their product issues. Makes me leery.
