OT: Never Mess With Bluejays!
Comments (15)Sorry you lost baby bluejay-sometimes it's so hard to understand ma nature!! But one animals loss is another animals gain... yes I feel sorry for the prey but I sympathize with the hunter too!!LOL!! Last week on my way home (10:30pm) I saw two baby 'coons in the middle of the road-their mama was calling them from the ditch. Four lane busy road-I stopped and put on my flashers trying to get people to at least slow down. The 'coons ran under my truck, so I had to crawl under there and throw a t-shirt over them and carry them to the ditch!! All the while I'm saying "Please don't bite me, Mama 'coon!" I had to do that three times 'cause the first one ran back to the truck. Two nights ago, on my way home there were two bloody lumps in the road-it was the baby 'coons. I must be really weird-as a kid, about six or seven stuff like this would make me cry off and on for days-once(or twice) I've even ran out into the road myself to try to stop what I knew was going to happen. Now here I sit at 41 years of age crying over two stupid 'coons that were squished two days ago!! Glad the kids didn't see me! -B...See Moreliving room owl pics
Comments (9)It really was quite a wild afternoon. Isn't he adorable. He was only about eight inches long, which is apparently normal for them. And I loved how angry he looked _ like how dare you take a picture of me while I'm trying to figure out how to get out of your house? Meanwhile, as much as the pets added to the problems, I don't think any of them noticed the rather big bird flying around the house. I guess all my pets are focused on lizards and mice and other floor-dwelling critters....See MoreBig cat warning in my neighborhood
Comments (10)Last night when I got up to go to the bathroom, I tied Izzi to my front porch as I always do when she wants out in the dark. I sat looking out the storm door as Izzi sniffed the front porch. When I looked up, this side of the dusk till dawn light was a very, very big coyote! I don't know where it came from as it was not there when I looked down at Izzi but was there when I looked up and it was staring right at us. I opened the storm door and it took off in a couple leaps into the woods from the drive. Izzi never did even hear it and neither did I. That is why I always tie her especially at night and I always watch her. Never know what is out in the dark. I know I have very large tracks all the time in my garden. Comments (12)Stunning pictures. I am not surprised the deer came on to your deck last year - here, in a suburban neighborhood with houses on every 1/4 acre lot, they climb up my one story tall brick front stairs, walk onto our old wrap around front porch (c. 1905), and eat the plants growing in pots right next to my front door. The Big Horn Sheep have probably been going through your area long before your house was built - YOU actually moved into THEIR neighborhood. Glad much of the area is protected. It certainly is wonderful that you can see all of the wildlife. Jackie...See MoreAnnKH
