Before & After Design Dilemma

Floor mirror or mirrored console

I changed my living room around and purchased new furniture. I have a floor mirror facing my sofa and I’m thinking of maybe removing the floor mirror and place a mirror console of some sort there and a big wall art above it.

I purchased two nightstands from hayneedle and I moved it to the area that I want to put the console to get a better illusion of how it would look, I put the wall art above it. The mirror is very heavy so I can’t move it around multiple times. So, I just put everything in front of it.

Do you like it with the console and art work or the mirror?

I was thinking of putting the mirror between the sofa and the table on that blank wall.

Please ignore the table, that will be replaced.

I’m also looking for a rug, but I don’t have one yet.

Also, I think a square table would like nicer.

I may have changed my mind after looking at your 2nd picture. Or maybe this is option #2, is it currently centered on what appears to be your dining room? If so, I think that could work also but would add something to the console table and between the 2 things (table + new thing) have the total be centered on the wall and then to the right of the table I would put a large something or other, maybe a vase with tall grasses sticking out of it or a tall and thin chair...that way the mirror appears centered when in the dining room? I just looked at my console table and mirror, they are not centered on my wall. I think it was because of how the front door opens to the wall the table is on and also due to walk space. I think you are fine so long as the mirror is centered over your table! (A lot of help I am!)

Hi guys, picked out some sconces. Im going to mount these (see pic), and lay some remote led pucks to make my life easy vs hard wiring especially because I won't turn them on often and I don't want to start an electrical project. Question.....how far off the mirror and how high should I mount these, is there a rule? I'll return the paper sconces, jk 😁

Probably needs to be about 20" above floor, which would put it just above chair seat height.

Not the total chair height. ONLY THE SEAT HEIGHT. TRY 20” from bottom of art frame to floor.

Coming in late to this thread so haven't read everything, but the room looks nice- glamorous actually! And, again, perhaps answered elsewhere, but is this a more formal sitting area in you home? You have another space for lounging/TV watching? Wasn't sure since this is just off the kitchen.

Following and love how this is coming together. The art, gallery wall and rug made all the difference in the world here Sweets. I actually like that you have removed the silver cylinder table from between the chairs. Could you place it in the corner with a nice fern on it to add some organic greenery to the space? I would also like to see that white vessel that is on the floor next to the nesting tables on your sofa table instead of the blue vase. It's profile seems to fit the sofa table better, maybe...?

I was just playing with you Flo! I had the same problem yesterday. And a couple other times recently Drives me nuts and then I look like a crazy person when they finally all post.

Yesterday I figured out after I hit submit and Houzz stalls out, to just hit Refresh instead of trying again. And then I saw it actually did post but wasn't refreshing itself.

!! But first select all and copy just in case! lol

Annnnnd I see it is happening still today!

It's not just the app, I'm on my desktop and it's doing it. I stopped using the app a long time ago. Can't remember why exactly but generally bc it sucked haha

Are these pillows nice on these chairs or do I need to remove them and keep the gray pillows?

I also put the tin in the corner, so i need to put it back?

Also, will it look out of place to put a desk in that pushed in area next to me door? Or maybe some type of low chest with drawers ?

Though they’re a pretty color, they seem to take up so much room on the chair. They look too large.

Yes. The pillows are a bit too big and boudoir looking for this space. Small lumbars would be best. Can you please slide the table back some and snuggle chairs closer to silver round table on angle? Kind of like this. Get front legs of chairs on rug. The big art could still be slightly lower. Is there a plug or something stopping this from hanging lower?

Sweetshome. I was just scrolling back and you have come a long way with this space. Well done!! Keep tweaking. A small desk in that little spot where the wall juts out might work, but my instincts say it would be too much and distracting. The eye needs places to rest.

I see the lumbar, he’s that would look nice.. I have a lumber on the sofa but it’s one of those furry ones. I’ll looks for one similar to Grover .
I agree, should probably leave that space empty or put something lighter there?
I will also move the sofas back some and make the place look wider.

The room is looking so pretty! Modern glam with a serene feel to it. I wouldn't do any pillows on the chairs. I like them just clean. Sofa has enough for my eye.

Okay, so I lowered the larger art work.
I tried to put the table in between the two chairs and place the chairs at an angle. I removed the big round pillow and placed it on the sofa and out the two lumbar pillows on the chair.

Should i get rid of the two round pink pillows all together and place my lumbar back how I had the sofa originally?

I have two blank walls facing the chairs, left wall and right wall. Should I leave those corners and plain walls the way that it is? I think Grover mentioned a plant in the corner.

Next past will be the dining area and family room

I think I’m almost finished in this area...

Yes you have enough on the walls. Those pillows on the chairs are too big for the chairs. I would return the round pink ones. Just don’t think they work. Perhaps an upright palm might be nice in corner behind chair on right as you face chairs. Needs to be about 2/3 height of art. Probably 4’ high? Everything is looking so beautiful! Congratulations!
