Suero, I like the gray idea... Most of my pictures have gray in them as well, with some "shots" of color. I googled "gustavian gray" and got every color imaginable. I'm thinking a light to medium hue. Is that kind of what you meant?

Hi Srg215, Wow...well, I'm not totally sure yet but I seem to recall the designer saying "2-3,000" for this carpet (bound as a rug), approximate size 10x14. If that's bound as a rug and delivered, I guess $2000 isn't that much more than $12 0/sq ft, but I'll find out the exact price this week and let you know. I had no idea I could find the same exact product for potentially so much less. Can you give me the info re: your Bergen store and what they call it? Stark calls the pattern "Westfield" and this green color "Spring", or is that only what Stark calls it? Thanks so much. Madeline

I also live in a log home, we built it ourselves (DH & I) 13 years ago. I truly like the cozy feel of all the wood but it does lack natural sunlight (which is why I am always outside!) Because our home is so remote, the only home on 27 acres and a dead end, I don't use window dressings at all, other than the bedroom, which does have blinds. This helps brighten it up quite a bit and I have a lot of lamps, plants, colorful scatter rugs, pillows & throws. This works well & I get a lot of compliments on my decorating. I will say this, at first, I went a bit crazy with "cabin decor" and I lean more toward rustic yet colorful now. Be careful not to try too hard for the lodge look as it can get old & boring quickly.

Is the wall color as gold as it appears in the photos? I can't tell how much is actual color, how much is lighting, and how much is photography, but the whole room seems very yellow/gold. It looks like there is a covered porch or patio outside that limits the natural light, so I would be looking to increase the amount of artificial light, and probably increase the color temperature of the lamps as well (up to 4000 K). Does your sister just want a change or is she specifically looking at what's currently "in" and thinking, "I want that"? If the latter, I'd probably be looking at paint color (grays may or may not be going out, but I don't think golds a poised to come back in for a while. Maybe a greige, or white, or blue). Changing the light fixture would also be a relatively easy update. A new window shade could add some color and pattern. If she's not as concerned about trends, I might focus more on artwork and the arrangement of the plants. I like the plants, but evenly spacing the pots looks a bit uninspired. Decorators like grouping odd numbers of objects (so 3 or 5 rather than 2 or 4). She could change out some of the pots so that they look more cohesive (this would be a way to introduce a new color if she wants).
