Help...Help..melting snow down exhaust pipe onto range

Hi all, recently completed a kitchen Reno and had a custom exhaust vent made for the roof. We have a 1200 cfm over a blue star range. The custom made vent sticks out approx 24 inches above the roofline. We live in Ottawa Canada and it can get to -35 C which it has been recently. As a result when when range hood is turned on after about 10 mins or so I have water coming down onto my range. I was told by a few contractors that the warm air that goes out through the vent freezes when it hits the exhaust vent and basically melts the next time I use the range hood. Has anyone had this happen?
