Heres my bedding - What color would you paint the walls?
Comments (19)I think that the color in the picture is gorgeous, but that a paler shade of the same thing...a softer, dustier one...would give you more the effect you want. Take a close look at the picture, and you see that the bit closest to the camera, with reflected sunlight on it, seems closer to what you might like than the way it looks up in the corner, where you see that it's actually quite deep. Reds always seem stronger on the wall than on the chip...I would suggest that you take a look at these Duron colors (it's the only fandeck I have at hand just now...teach me to lend those out!) SW 6324-Mellow Coral SW 6325 Constant Coral SW 6332 Coral Island SW 6347 Chrysanthemum ...and see if any of them interest you. They are all more flower-pot colored than pink, and have a soft earthy quality to them that I think would work for you?...See MoreHow do you make your pillow cases to match quilts?
Comments (5)Hi, Kate; I love your pillowcases. Very creative and the sort of ideas I'm looking for. Do prairie points have to be ironed? I'm guessing yes, but that still works for me. The current pillowcases on my bed coordinate with my "Black, white & red" quilt which is a stack n heavily slashed with only a tiny bit of red. (Sorry, I cannot post photos) I made the pillowcases 20" length of one of the lighter quilt fabrics, then a 3 1/2" pieced black n white, then a 1 1/2" red border finished with a 2" piece of the original fabric -- which is then turned under to form the inside. For some reason I have never fallen in love with the sausage method....See MoreUpdated bed and would you put a pillow on this bed and what kind?
Comments (54)I know I'm in the minority when it comes to bed dressings because I've never been a fan of multiple decorative pillows. When I was growing up all of our beds had regular bedspreads that covered the pillows and for the most part I still refer that simpler look although I may add a throw or one decorative pillow. It all depends on proportions - the size and height of the bed and the headboard, the ceiling height and available space above the bed. Your painting is beautiful and looks great above the bed. I love the coverlet and the cleaner look of fewer pillows. Matelasse is my favorite. I bought oversize ones so that I could eliminate the bed skirt. We had a full size cannonball bed in one of the guest rooms but the new mattresses were much higher. Our kitchen contractor said his cabinetmaker could raise the headboard by adding a piece of wood to lengthen the legs and attaching a metal bracket. We never did it and when we moved bought a queen bed for that bedroom and a wrought iron headboard. The Cousin Itt pillow adds a little bit of whimsy too. Comments (15)I'm going to be another one that doesn't listen to the "only." With your current bedding, I think a soft blue pulled from it instead of the brown pillows would look nice against the headboard. Lamps are fine, so I would no change them. I like the art too, but not in its current location. There is a lot of matching items (5 pair to be exact, 7 if you count the tissue boxes and coasters). That is a lot for my eyes, but maybe not yours. I agree the sconces are not in a good location. If you are set on changing the bedding, is there a rug in the room? If so, please show us. If not, do you want one, or is that carpet?...See MoreRuby Garcia
