Awkward Living Room Seeks Attractive Floor Plan for Fun- and more
Comments (1)One suggestion...figure out your floor plan before you put down the new floor so that you can add at least one electrical outlet in the middle of the room where it will be hidden under the sofa. I think you will end up floating furniture to make best use of the space, so it would be terrific to have an outlet to use for lamps to avoid cords across a pathway....See Moreneed help with a small rectangular living room.
Comments (64)I'm late to the game and I use Homestyler too. What fun the snapshots are! (especially the 360 panorama) You have some nice arrangements. I would probably skip the fireplace and put a chair there and in the future you could put a TV on the wall with a credenza (where the 2 small chairs are). If you skip the fireplace and do shallow storage across that wall, you might be able to keep a chair in front of the storage shelves. If you want to keep the fireplace, I would move it down toward the door more and put a plant in the corner or maybe some storage. I would skip a chair in front of the fireplace. (Why block it?) I would definitely use smaller scale furniture, maybe even with legs so you get a more open feel. http://www.homestyler.com/designer/251ab2d8-32cc-4a0c-a273-ee33f1fa79d2 You should be able to view this in 3D if your are signed up for Homestyler by copying the layout and opening it when you are signed in. Maybe you don't have to sign up??...See MoreNeed advice on floor plan for living room, french doors or windows?
Comments (24)NafNaf--Forgive me I am not sure what is different in what you are suggesting? Virgil-- I am not good with the descriptions, but the the house sits in a hill and the sunporch is above the basement patio at least for part of it, the garage is under the house. The lot is pie shaped with the great room facing the narrow end of the pie. I have been working on this all morning and moving furniture in my current living room and measuring and graphing again to double check. Right now my plan will fit a 7.5 x 9.5 sectional facing the west wall, that wall will have built ins and house the tv. The far end of sectional will be about 8' from the TV, this is the exact set up we have in our current home and the configuration is very cozy but nice, also the "L" will be open to stairs, hall etc so not closed off. On the fire place end, I feel like I can set furniture(possibly a pair of 4' settees arranged opposite or a combination of smaller chairs and a settee) about 4' from the back of the sectional and comfortably flow between the sitting areas on the stair side---I measured with the swing of the doors etc. I am keeping in mind that yes its tight if the doors are open but that will not be often. So with my furniture arranging I realized that the slider will just not fit, its much better with large windows that open. I am thinking 4, 6' casements....See MoreOpen floor plan kitchen/living room/dining area- need help defining sp
Comments (21)Okay - did the corrections and think I have a close approximation of your space. Each block represents 1 foot. The gray area is the space needed around the island for walking with people seated - should be clear of furniture. Can you take a picture of the full wall where the fireplace and tv nook are - not sure I got their placements right. Do you plan on using the tv nook for the TV? How did you envision the living/seating areas when you designed the kitchen? How many people need to be seated - do you need a dining space and how many people need to sit at the dining table or are you just using the island for meals?...See MoreChristie Gilmore
