Ack. Lights centered over table would be off-center in room...
Comments (5)We have the same problem in our dining room. And the real 'ACK' part is that we gutted our whole kitchen/dining area and removed the old ceiling, so we could have addressed it properly the first time. Once the new dining room table was in, it was obvious we would be moving it off centre (pathway to deck is behind table), and we're kicking ourselves. DH is planning to buy a plaster medallion to put up on the ceiling, so that the edge of it will cover the old hole. Luckily, he is an electrical engineer, so he can do the rewiring. I COULD patch the hole, but what a LITERAL pain in the neck. So not only will the fixture be off-centre, but medallion will be too. I am pretty sure it will cost you more than $35 extra on top of the first $35 to rewire in a new location- assuming there is enough wire up there to allow the move. Ours is accessible from the attic....See Morepot rack OVER stove or next to it?
Comments (8)Thanks y'all! I really don't mind the look (Joyce, you better have a darn good reason for leaving that lovely kitchen--oh, I see. That OTHER lovely kitchen!) but I'm thinking it might not be quite so practical, especially with the spouse being uncomfortable about it. (I'm so considerate!) It would be extremely visible from the living, family, and dining room (I'd like to add an S after "room" but someone went crazy knocking out walls in this house.) This would be "temporary", in a somewhat dysfunctional kitchen. The type of temporary that could be months or years. I do see some spots for hooks on cabinet sides though. Maybe I could clear out some skillets......See MoreWhat light would look nice over my kitchen sink?
Comments (15)The smoke glass one would work nicely but can't be shipped to Canada. The only one I found so far that ships to Canada is this one on Amazon for $49.99: But it's a 9" diameter which seems a bit large. Nosoccermom, I'll use your idea of blowing up a balloon. And I thought I'd share this light I came across because I think it's super nice:...See MoreHOW HIGH TO HANG A LIGHT FIXTURE OVER DINING TABLE
Comments (8)The lowest arm on that fixture is the "bottom". Sixty one ( 61 ) inches from the floor in your case, to the bottom and lowest arm of that light. ( 29 + 32 = 61) There ya go....See MoreRelated Professionals
