I would like to get feedback on the Supercore Basics line. I am looking at Solitude for around 1,000 sf. I have an old wood subfloor that I am going to need to do a lot of leveling on. Where do you draw the line for telling someone that a 4.5mm floor is not for them? I know I only get a 12mil wear layer, but the fact that it is still Aluminum Oxide and has a stone composite core makes me feel it will be ok. Is there any difference in the locking system? The lock does not seem as hefty on the samples for the basics line. I get concerned that with an old pier and beam supported floor that has settled, even if I level the floor, will the less hardy locking system fail if I get slight movement with any further settling?

We DIY installed Supercore SPC by We Ship Floors. It's a great product. I wasn't sure about the bevel (not all Supercore has a bevel, but the one we purchased does), but I do like it. It's a small bevel. The floor has a great wear layer, and feels good underfoot. It has an EVA foam underlayment, no cork. I researched for a long while, and I'm super happy with this product. I think that the SPC is going to be a better product in the long run because it's more rigid. If you want a no brainer product on your floor, choose tile. It will handle the wet and the sun.

Make sure you look for a water resistant laminate because most laminates don’t like water. We were looking at AtroGuard laminate by Lamett, but have since decided to install SPC (stone polymer composite) rigid plank SuperCore flooring from WeShipFloors.com. It’s not bothered by moisture and humidity, and living in Mississippi that’s a real plus. With the laminate we would have to run dehumidifiers 24/7 to maintain the 40-60% humidity to keep it happy during the summer and humidifiers in winter to maintain the humidity during cold weather when the heat has to be on. Most of the water resistant laminates are surface water protected for up to 72 hours, but if water gets under it the floor can be ruined. The Flooret Modin SPC plank has some colors you might like and so does SuperCore. It’s definitely worth reading up on the newcomer SPC since it can take temps much higher than LVP and WPC (wood polymer composite) vinyl plank flooring and is much more stable in sunlight. I also suggest you read a lot about laminate since you stated you are looking for flooring that will be durable with water. IMHO, the SPC flooring will fit your needs better. There are some companies that have a tile look SPC if that interest you. It may take some research to find them, but they’re out there. Good luck in your flooring search. I really suggest you do some reading on both types of flooring and then decide what you think will work best on a concrete slab in Florida that needs to stand up well to water with humidity, kids and a dog in the picture.

We’ve chosen SuperCore, an SPC ( stone polymer composite) flooring for most of our home. We haven’t installed it yet, but I did order a full box, click it together and live on it for a few days in my kitchen. I love it. It has a rustic look with knots and graining and is not slippery. I have a 15 pound cat and he was playing on it with his flying feather toy and there were no scratches from his long claws. SuperCore is sold only online at WeShipFloors.com. You can order from them, and it is shipped to your home. It seems to be very DIY friendly. My husband and I are retired and plan to install ours. If you look at their website, there is some really good info about the stone composite floors and why they are preferable to WPC (wood polymer composite) flooring. The SPC, which has a limestone core, is more dimensionally stable and has better compression strength than the WPC which has a wood fiber core. The SPC is not affected by water. We decided on the SPC because we have several very heavy pieces of furniture, and the SPC will not be damaged by them. You will still need to put floor protectors on chairs and sofas to prevent scratching when moving them and have mats at your doors, but that would be the case with any flooring except maybe porcelain tile which is super hard and very hard on your feet, legs and back.
